It sounds like you had either an OOBE (Out of body experience) or a very lucid dream, either of which can be fascinating.

Re: was this just a dream or not?
You're welcome! Yes, it was awesome. Usually
when I have an OBE it is facilitated by my
guides. I tried to do it once on my own and
managed to get out of body but had no control!
I bounced around the room like a balloon in a
strong breeze! It was still kind of fun, tho.

you often have OBEs??? :d and what do you mean by 'guides'? i wish next time i have one (if i have one) i'm able to go outside!
 Quoting: spacenomad

We all have guides and they are willing to reveal themselves to you if you ask. But you have to be open to the signs and the answers. When I first wanted to make contact with a guide I asked, with full belief that it would be granted, for a verifiable sign from my guide. I formulated the request in my mind, I solidified it and then I released it (that's very important, you have to release the thought).

The next night I was working on a portrait and listening to talk radio (everyone else had gone to bed) when I received (what I realized later) was an auditory verification. I heard an entire news report about John F Kennedy, Jrs. plane crash - I heard all the details, I heard how he and Jacqueline Bisset were missing.....a little while later I heard he had flown on a bad leg against advice, I heard there was bad weather, I heard they found the wreckage and they were both dead.

The next day when I got up it was all over the news and they were saying how they weren't sure if there were any survivors. I was confused and asked my husband and stepdaughter why they're showing a repeat broadcast, they said they weren't. I insisted they were cause they found the plane last night and they were both dead. Imagine my shock when they told me this was all LIVE! I told them what I heard the night before and imagine their surprise when the news started talking about him flying without an instructor despite the weather and the bad leg. I don't think they ever looked at me the same way again after that and I knew there were indeed guides.

This one was obvious, identifying my animal guide was a bit tougher (I'll tell that story later if you want), partly because I wanted so much to have a "cool" animal guide that I continually overlooked the signs I was being given [it's a Duck btw].

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Re: was this just a dream or not?
It was a dream - been there done that decades ago. I "got up" out of bed, looked at my self in the mirror, I was all glowing white with no face. I walked out into the living room and tried to walk through the wall - didn't work. But it seems I could jump through a closed window, and I did, floated down to the ground and it was all light out (at night). Thought to myself "I need to verify this." I walked over to the parked cars and tried to read a license plate number - THE NUMBERS VANISHED. Said to myself - "This is a dream" and woke up.

Re: was this just a dream or not?
The first time it happened, it was about 1995. That
time I could feel someone behind me, like a director.
It felt E.T. I walked around the house and went
right up to my husband to see if he could see me
and he couldn't. I waved my hands and yelled to
no avail. But my one year old son saw me. He
looked up and said, "momma". I wanted to go
outside, but felt disapproval from the guide.
so I tricked him and dove out the window. He
grabbed my spirit legs and wouldn't let me go
any farther. But I was hanging half out and
where my body was, it was fall. Outside the
window, it was winter! I could feel everything.
That's when I tried it again the next night
and got out of body but had no control. Some-
how the guide was able to stabilize my energy
somehow.

You didn't trick him....he was teaching you in the manner that would be most effective for you....my guess is you're highly intelligent and used to psychologically "manipulating" people (and I don't mean that in a bad way - though it can be - I mean you know the intricacies of achieving a "give-and-take" from those around you without much effort. You "know" what to say, or do, in a real crunch to get the cooperation you, or your family, needs). I would also guess that while on one hand you clearly know you are superior to most around you, on the other hand you can - at times- hesitate to give yourself any credit at all - thinking "What do I know?"

Yes they did, you just didn't realize it. Like my Mother always told me "When the student is ready the Teacher will appear."

and about not thinking too much about the OBE while its happening.. when it happened today i intuitively knew i shouldn't think too much about it. instead i just 'let go' and focused on nothing! it was a really really fun experience.

thanks for your words hf

It's a very restorative experience as well - I bet you felt well-rested when you got up.

Be advised though that if you really want to work on this, [all of it, not just the OBE part], you're life will get hectic for awhile. Roadblocks will seemingly appear out of nowhere, distractions will be everywhere, you will be tested. Call it Evil, call it Satan, call it the Greys or TPTB - or simply call it society or civilization - call it whatever you want but it (as ALL are correct yet NONE are correct), but there are definite forces (or perhaps Laws of some nature that we're unaware) that will attempt to make your life as noisy and distracting as possible. As long as you can keep your balance (physical, intellectual & spiritual - not religious - spiritual) you can navigate your path.

Re: was this just a dream or not?
I had a year of OBE's that started like yours did. I had not been trying, and didn't even know about OBE's then, but they just happened. At first, I just floated around the room, and was stopped by the ceiling. (I even verified things by carefully examining the ceiling, and when I woke up, I climbed up on a chair, and saw the same 3 tiny spots that I noted while floating up there.)

I soon learned that pure thinking and will was what moves you around when out. No swimming, hopping, or other physical stuff. It was wonderful! It truly is another realm.

Once, I willed to go see my daughter at school - but found myself observing her at age 8, playing at her elementary school recess, although she was 14 in reality, at middle school, so time seems elastic when out.

After a year of many obe's, they started tapering off, and for whatever reason, have now stopped. :( During that year, they seemed so natural and easy - I wondered then why I had not always been able to do this, and why everyone doesn't.

A side effect was that during that year, I also had many psychic experiences, and a very clear "knowing". My physical body also healed in every way - even my vision. All my aches and pains and minor ailments went away, almost like my whole system "re-booted". Life also became much more "easy" and manageable in general.

This all happened in 1994, and I have not been sick even once since then! (Lucky for me, as I have not had insurance since 1992, either.) I haven't been to a doc in years...

Have Fun - NO FEAR!

 Quoting: spacenomad

When asking your guide to make their presence known you should first enter into a very tranquil state - do you meditate? Meditation can be very difficult but the more tranquil you are the more successful you will be. When formulating your requests it's good to visual them (you can even just visual the words if you want - I do that against the background of a star filled space), as you think the words and hear the words in your head. For some reason the number three is quite powerful here. I completely visualize three times (sight, mind, sound) and then I release the thought so that the communication can be picked up (kinda like using a phone....you need to dial the number and then hit the "call" button to establish the connection process).

Once you release the request FORGET ABOUT IT! Do not dwell on it, let it go, let it find it's way. Your answer may be auditory, like mine was, but it may not. It may be visual, it may be a thought. It may be a dream. Whatever it is, if it is a message from your guide you should see the confirmation of it within 48 hours.

yeah.. i did feel very rested when the experience was over..

hmmm.... i do want to work on it.. all of it. my life so far has been so meaningless and lonely. i tried a lot of things to find meaning.. but nothing filled that 'void' in me. for the roadblocks, bring it on :p i try very hard to keep a balance in everything.. although people say i get too obsessed over things.

thanks for the advice :)

wow that is awesome! maybe that one year of OBEing (and if there was other stuff too) was meant to teach you a certain kind of perspective towards life and everything..? and it's AMAZING that you haven't gotten sick after that. wow!

One time I went into meditation and left my

dimension. I immediately forgot my "real"
life and was very content to be where I was.
I had a small house, no kitchen or bathroom
( not needed, in spirit.) A stream ran thru
my front yard and there were no driveways,
or roads. Just grass and nature. It was fall.
I sank myself into the stream and the water
was so clean and refreshing. I was completely
at peace. Then a small girl who looked very
sad and concerned came up to me next to the
river I was in and said sternly, " You can't
stay here. You have kids, ya know". Then I
thought, "oh yeah" and remembered my life.
As I prepared to depart, I asked her name. She
said her name was Andi.

Re: was this just a dream or not?
ok i've been having cool dreams every since i started reducing my medication dose about a month or so ago. and what i usually do right after waking up is just remember the dreams and feel warm and fuzzy inside. soo.. about 90 minutes ago i went to sleep cause i was feeling sleepy. and i guess half an hour ago i woke up, or so i thought. i was feeling the usual lazy and tired and was remembering the latest cool dream.

i was feeling really lazy. my blanket was curled tight around me, under and above my feet (i can't sleep unless my blanket wraps me like a cocoon :p). so.. i can't remember why i did it. but i grabbed the blanket end near my head.. and pulled, my body beneath my waist was feeling really really heavy. but when i pulled slightly.. my body above my waist started rising up slowly like it was as light as a feather.. and when i was fully upright (the blanket was off by then) i kept going up!! i mean, not flying. i still had weight but i was really light. so i floated halfway across the room, bumped against the wall and drifted and settled down on the floor. i was extremely happy and delighted and i kept whispering 'yes' 'yes' hehe..

then i was in my bed!! right back where i was before i tried pulling myself up. sooo.. i did that again, again floated around the room. again teleported back in the bed. i did this for about 10 ten times! i tried going outside on one of the last tries.. but i couldn't go beyond my room walls or ceiling.

then i woke up.. (???) and there had been a certain feeling in my head while i was doing all that floating. it had lessened a lot by then.. and i tried pulling the blanket but i was tooo tired and heavy. nothing happened this time. but.. everything seemed just like in the 'dream' (if that had been a dream, because whenever i floated before, i really really thought i was awake, i couldn't imagine it being a dream.. although i did think it over while floating :p)

and i got up and now i'm drinking coffee.

flame away !

I have had the experience several times and one time it was difficult to get back into my body. You were astro projecting. I won't get into the details here, but I really don't recommend that you elicit this kind of dream experience again. It can be dangerous. I thought they didn't eat anything either. Then came the visit to that place where I found a large cooking pot at the top terrace of a building. The cooking vessel is the size we make apple butter in, in this world. The fellow next to me said, "you know, we eat the guilty here." That world didn't seem so wonderful after that.
