For first time since ceasefire took effect, rocket hits central Ashkelon: Despite the alleged ceasefire in southern Israel, an air raid siren sounded in the city of Ashkelon shortly after 7 am Tuesday, followed by an explosion. A Grad rocket landed between buildings in a residential neighborhood in the city center as residents were making their way to school and to work. Three people suffered shock, several cars were damaged and windowpanes were shattered. [link to www.ynetnews.com] Defense establishment mulls response to Grad attack 02.03.09, 10:18 / Israel News The defense establishment held consultations Tuesday morning in order to recommend to Defense Minister Ehud Barak ways to respond to the continued rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip to be put before the limited cabinet for approval. According to intelligence reports, which said previous rocket attacks that followed the ceasefire were carried out by small Palestinian organizations, Tuesday's Grad rocket on Ashkelon was apparently fired by Hamas. (Well they couldnt because the borders where closed). But what about the Israeli population who lives within the rocket range? (25klm - 15.5 miles) Why dont they leave (or better why doesnt Israel moves them until a permanent solution takes place)? check the maps [link to newsimg.bbc.co.uk] [link to jcpa.org]

Barak has promised a disproportinate response. so we should see several hundred dead Palestinian children to pay for those damaged cars. and of course a few hundred dead Palestinian mothers to pay for the 3 israelis suffering from shock. don't forget to bulldoze a few hundred Palestinian houses, kill a couple thousand animals and desolate a few thousand olive trees, scorch the fields they were on etc. Israel is just defending itself right?
