Sorry but anybody that thinks Phelps or any other athlete smoking weed is a big deal is just a sheep that allows THE MAN to tell them what to think and what to believe in.
The governments of the world that have outlawed pot also happen to be the biggest drug dealers the planet has ever seen. Its not ok for a grown man to smoke weed, but its ok for the government to shove ritalin down the throats of our children for a tidy profit? FUCK THAT
And for all the people on this site that think its so fuckin easy to just go stand with a sign and sign petitions to legalize pot, everytime a bill is submitted to legalize it, about 20 blatantly unsavory things are tacked onto the bill by shady politicians who just happen to be in the back pocket of big tobacco and the alcohol industry. |

In 2004, Phelps was arrested on charges of driving under the influence in Salisbury, Maryland. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 18 months probation. He also issued an apology after that incident. |

Working on a college campus in Minneapolis, we had lots of support, but even then, it always felt like a losing battle. Not until the group social consciousness undergoes a serious paradigm shift will we get beyond the ingrained stigma and recognize as a society that yes, many many people smoke mj recreationally and there is simply nothing wrong with that. I blame it on the puritanical streak in Americans. And of course all the uses of industrial hemp which would put many current industries out of business with cleaner, greener, cheaper and healthier alternatives. |

The biggest problem I have with this is thqt he is still just a kid. And being a KID he still has accomplished more then most people will in their liftime. However, the man has determined that he is bad because he has smoked a little weed. Maybe if he was clinton and denied thqt he inhaled he would be much better off. Leave The Kid Alone! |

Why is it those of us who chose NOT to smoke pot have to idolize this kid? Big fucking deal...he won a bunch of medals at some bullshit corrupt waste of time and money Olympic games and he smokes pot....WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT!! Don't hear any outrage about some of these baseball players being stripped of their records or titles because of enhancement drugs. It's OK if you smoke pot and compete in the Olympics but if you use steroids (another drug) and compete; you're all up in arms. Idiots...every single one of you. |

Thats Great! A lobby for pot is what could cure American ills in economic terms and quell big pharma.
I think the best strategy is to first separate hemp from marijuana and how you need to legalize growing it. Hemp is an important economic engine-we need it freed.
Next step educate public on mj and remove remaining stigmas. I have never been a smoker of anything but the whole situation about pot is just too ridiculous.
And Phelps should cheek-in- tongue sponsor the hemp loby. Wouldn't that be a winner for him? Instead of recall laden Kellogg. |
