Adding, if the "stimulus" aka spending spree is all that is offered, i'd prefer that nothing be done. Doing nothing is better than doing something that exacerbates the problem. The longer the citizens of this country want to be in a nanny state, the worse off we are.

We are in an EMERGENCY...which calls for drastic measures.

We are in an emergency, yet nothing has been done to address the real problems, only to prolong the problems, and use the shitty economy as an excuse to increase the size of government. even the last two so called booms we've had were largely based on paper wealth. Americans spending because they felt rich because of the market in the dot-com era, then spending because they felt rich during the housing boom. People felt rich, but weren't. It's all fake. And will continue to be because we aren't doing anything to CHANGE it, using your buddies favorite empty word.

I'm saddened to read the uncaring posts here. These are fellow humans who once lived completely off the land and the sea, but who have become dependent on modern methods of keeping warm and fed. As they go, so will the rest of us.

In the lower 48, we are dependent on our 18-wheelers to haul our food across country. We can't all go out and pick berries and catch fish to feed ourselves in these hard times. There aren't enough squirrels to feed us, nor places to harvest wild plants and roots.

When the shit hits the fan, y'all better have a back-up plan.

It doesn't matter whether they lived off the land and are having a hard time now or not. We have so many lazy asses in other parts of this country on welfare that can't even take a bag of flour and make bread, they need all the convenience crap, can work and don't and we have some jerks on this thread worried that these other people in Alaska aren't trying hard enough. Come on their food is 400.00 a week lets put some lazy asses out there they would fall apart in the first 12 hours. We need to have help go to them as well as Compassion.

Where would they go? Where would you go if you had to move? The sad part about this is, anytime a large group of people are displaced, noone will take them in.
