"GOING TO THE POLLS TODAY"
Full coverage during today all day....

Voting for the 18th Knesset began in Israel at 7 A.M. on Tuesday, in what has turned out to be a tight race between Kadima and Likud. A total of 5,278,985 registered voters will be given a chance to cast their ballot in 9263 polls across the country until 10 P.M, electing their representatives from among 33 factions.

Polls over the weekend showed that some 20 percent of Israelis were still undecided.

The final Haaretz poll before the election suggested a strong right-wing bloc, comprising Likud with 27 seats, Yisrael Beiteinu on 18 seats, ultra-Orthodox Shas with nine seats and a combined veteran party National Union and fledgling Habayit Hayehudi (the Jewish home) on six seats.

According to the poll, a center-left bloc would only be able muster 54 seats, six short of the 61-seat threshhold needed to form a majority coalition. This bloc would consist of Kadima with 25 seats, Labor on 14 seats, New Movemment-Meretz on 7 seats, Jewish-Arab party Hadash on three seats, the United Arab List-Ta'al on three seats and predominantly Arab Balad with two seats.

Re: "GOING TO THE POLLS TODAY"
Terror Attacks Continue Against Israel With Elections One Day Away

February 9th

Hamas and Islamic Jihad continue their war against Israel, firing rockets and attempting to infiltrate into Israel across the Gaza-Israel border. Israel responded with attacking Hamas outposts.

[link to www.jpost.com]

It's expected that the attacks are tied to tomorrow's elections, but the outcome is sure to not work out in Hamas' favor, especially if Israel elects leaders who are more likely to go after Hamas after every single attack rather than wait months or years before carrying out raids against Hamas terror infrastructure and the smuggling tunnels that enable Hamas to resupply with more advanced weaponry.

[link to www.ynetnews.com]

It comes as Israelis prepare to go to the polls tomorrow to determine the makeup of the Knesset. There are 120 seats in the Knesset, and it is expected that no single party will come up with even 30 seats. It takes 60 seats to form a government and that means that the party that comes up with the most seats gets an opportunity to form a coalition government.

Outgoing Prime Minister, the lame duck corrupt Ehud Olmert has thrown his support behind fellow Kadima party leader Foreign Minister Livni, which may be a kiss of death as far as I'm concerned.

[link to www.jpost.com]

Olmert's judgment has been worse than awful given the way he allowed and tolerated Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror attacks against Israeli communities within range of Gaza for years on end. Israel's Operation Cast Lead was a start in the right direction, but the Israelis have to maintain zero tolerance for any terror attacks, and the politicians continue to allow some number of attacks to occur without taking military action. That is unacceptable.

Livni is more likely to continue the string of failures that Olmert began. Binyamin Netanyahu is a flawed candidate, but is far better than Livni and the alternatives.

[link to www.jpost.com]

What's interesting is that some polls seem to suggest that support for Hamas has dropped since Israel carried out Operation Cast Lead. People in the region are beginning to see Hamas and the other terror groups as the cancer they are.

[link to www.jpost.com]

Let's only hope that the Israeli voters see that a strong hand against Hamas will result in safer Israeli communities and improved security. Concessions result in Hamas and the other terrorists taking advantage and engaging in still more attacks against Israel by any means possible.

Palestinian poll: Hamas support drops

A Palestinian poll conducted after Operation Cast Lead has found that 56 percent of residents in the Gaza Strip and 48.3% of Palestinians in the West Bank and east Jerusalem believe Hamas is leading them in the wrong direction.

The poll, conducted by the Beit Sahour-based Palestinian Center for Public Opinion and published last week, also found that the popularity of Fatah among Palestinians now exceeds the popularity of Hamas, in contrast to a November 2008 poll conducted well before Israel's military operation.

Today, Hamas is supported by only 27.8% of the population in the Gaza Strip, compared to 51.5% in November, said Dr. Nabil Kukali, founder and general director of the PCPO.

Fatah's popularity in the Hamas-controlled coastal territory lies at 42.5%, compared to 31.4% in November.

"Many Palestinians suffered from the war in Gaza… They lost their homes and their families," Kukali said. "The situation is unpredictable, and maybe they feel that Hamas did not make the right decision" when it did not renew its six-month truce with Israel that expired in December.

In the West Bank and east Jerusalem, Fatah is now supported by 39.2%, while Hamas is supported by only 23.7%, according to the poll. In November, Fatah was supported by 68.6% in the West Bank and east Jerusalem and by 31.4% in Gaza, Kukali said.

What I suggest is that you guys stop covering up the attocities these fanatics comit against you. Start disseminating tons of pictures to show the damage and death and carnage all the suicide bombers and rockets have caused! LEt the world see what these people are really about! Send out UAV's and gather imagery showing how HAMAS has all its munitions and rockets dispersed through GAZA and lebanon! Beat them at their own propaganda game!
And most of all, read HISTORY! Mulsims have NEVER responded to anything but force! They respect strenght and despise and submit those who appear weak! When in history have they EVER lived in peace without trying to conquer those around them and force conversions? NEVER! There is hope and there is naivite. If your country wants to survive, continue to make your armed forces stronger and your intel better. I fear you will get no compasion from those in the UN theat have all but written you off as THE problem. Be smart and pray. God will NOT abandon you.

That's why perhaps the only short term solution is to indeed take out Hamas (and Hezbollah) to stop the attacks. The horror being that many innocent people will be caught in the middle.

But you can't force a train to a new track at full speed. You've got to stop it first and lift it to the new desired track to continue.

Although this will most likely not work in the part of the world that is mostly driven by 'revenge'.
