Got Questions? (OP) User ID: 615181 United States 02/14/2009 07:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The basic theory behind Sugar Therapy is that concentrated sugar draws out & absorbs any moisture surrounding it, as in a hygroscopic effect. In so doing, it draws the moisture out of micro-oganisms in contact with it through a type of osmotic action. This actually dehydrates the microbes. The dehydrated microbes cannot thrive, and they cannot reproduce. Their impact on tissues is then negated. This neutralization of the microbes then allows the wound to heal naturally. Sugar therapy & honey therapy both seem to work the same way. And honey therapy is also believed to be useful in treating antibiotic-resistent strains of bacteria. [link to annieappleseedproject.org] Once again, some natural & ancient remedies have proven themselves quite useful, even in today's age. Peace. |

One time we had a cow who, after calving, kept pushing and pushed her whole uterus right out into the great outdoors. Yuk. The vet came and asked for -- sugar ! After thoroughly washing the inside-out uterus with antiseptic solution (you can imagine everything that was sticking to it), we lifted it up and laid it on a tarp and completely coated it with sugar. The sugar shrunk the inflamed tissues enough so that they could be stuffed back inside the cow, and also served to help prevent infection. Surprisingly enough, the cow survived . . . |

I don't see where it's necessary when you could take bee propolis,("propolis" translated from the Greek languagee means "defenses before a town") garlic, oil of oregano, olive leaf extract, colloidal silver, etc. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 153788 United States 02/15/2009 12:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good info. Sugar is very close to alcohol molecularly. Honey does work very well on burns and wounds, the honey made from Tea Tree(maracusa?) is said to be an extra potent healer. I use honey to emulsify essential oils for use topically or in a bath. Many healing salves can be made this way. |

There is nothing medicinally gained by consuming it orally that I know of. |

Got Questions? User ID: 615457 United States 02/15/2009 04:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Babies are always getting ear infections. What do you do for that? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 594943Disclaimer: I'm neither a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. And nothing I write here should be construed as medical advice. Everything here is for informational purposes only. First, ear infections can be serious, so a visit to your pediatrician is always needed first. Ear infections are mostly connected with eustachian tube problems and allergies. And many of the global common denominators involve day care, wood-burning stoves, parental smoking, ore bottle-feeding babies. It seems that breast-feeding on the other hand helps the babies develop resistances against these infections. Or possibly they might have developed an allergy to cow's milk. The standard treatment in conventional medicine is to feed the babies antibiotics, pain killers and decongestants. If the infections get too bad, they'll offer to surgically implant drainage tubes thru the eardrum. Antibiotics really haven't proven to do very much to help with these cases. And they also contribute to bacterial mutations that morph into antibiotic-resistant superbugs. And ear tubes are barbaric and not a very good idea in most cases. A Naturalpathic approach to this problem might be to focus on possible food allergies. Breast feeding for the 1st 4+ months is recommended to help the baby to build up his/her immunity. Baby-safe immuno-enhancers would be helpful too. Taking steps to eliminate any possible food allergies should greatly help in most cases. Once they are off breast milk, watch and document their diet carefully. Look for reactions. Common allergen foods that small children should stay away from include: cow's milk, wheat, egg white, peanuts, soy, corn, tomatoes, chicken and apple. Humidifiers have shown to help also. Peace. |
