Exactly. If I was aware of what family and friends were up to, and they were aware of what I am up to, etc. then plans to try and group together could be made more easily.

Here is another example; say my parents do not believe that shit will hit the fan to the extent of no electronic communications. Shit does hit the fan, and now they are kind of lost as to what to do. So, what are they going to do? Most likely they will do what they are told to do when 'officials' come a knockin'. They get in line, wait for food, wait for water, wait for shelter not knowing that my family and my brother's family, and my sister's family are all on our way (because we decided this before-hand). All the parents had to do is sit tight for awhile (with their stock of rice/beans, water, etc.) and wait it out until other family members and friends group back together.

I can't imagine if they left their house and other family members get there and see that they are gone with know way to communicate or track them down!
