Novelty means something that is new to human experience. Doom by itself is nothing new unless it brings a different experience or leads to something new in human history.
9/11 was not a novelty. The feelings felt by people all over the world was not a novel and new experience (America alone does not count as the experience of the whole world). The wars in Afganistan and Iraq were not new or novel either. However the way the economy was golobaly handeled after 9/11 which led to the boom that the world had never seen before was indeed a novelty.

Yes, the crash in September. So doom can happen again, it will just be a new kind of doom.

I'm not so sure what happened in September was doom.

The more you read about what went on back then, with billions of dollars being pulled, it was like someone wanted all out doom to occur, yet these accounts were frozen to prevent anymore money from being pulled.

It was a bad economic hit, yes, but society has held together.

What happened in September could be viewed as doomed averted.

Wow, a major dropout into McKenna's novelty.

It's only doom for the present System.

My calculations from the graph show me the novelty started around May 2007 and has continued downwards towards novelty up to today and will continue the novelty until NOV of 2009.
By November 2009 the human novelty be at it maximum that has been since 6000 BC.

After that there will be a period of going back to habit and then in to novelty again very quickly. Maximum novelty next will be reached in JAN 2011.
