What is Your Door-to-Door Commute Time to Work?
If you commute for more than an hour each way, why? And does it exhaust you?

Re: What is Your Door-to-Door Commute Time to Work?
i commute to work 1.5 hours each
way, 3 hours a day.

i drive approx. 2 miles, catch
a train then connect to the metro,
i've been doing it for so long,
i wouldn't know what a short
commute is like...i would never
drive my commute, the way i do
it is not exhausting...just lost
time

My work locations vary but 99% of the time it's minimum 1 hour and at worst 2 hours.

It can be relaxing and it can be infuriating.

I drive on average about 500 miles per week to work, since I work all over the country.

And yes, it does exhaust me. And yes, I do hate driving.

11 seconds...down the stairs, into my office. Might take 2 minutes if I stop in the kitchen for coffee :-)

About 25 minutes to work and 15 minutes back.

It doesn't bother me. In my previous work I drove around 400km's (248 miles) a night over 12 hours or so. I enjoy driving, I find it relaxing even in traffic.

I used to do 4 or 5 hours a day on trains/buses - sometimes more..(although I like to think that I 'spent' my time, rather than 'wasted' it during the journeys)

Anyway, now it's 5 seconds.

I work in the garden these days.

.9 OF A MILE. Two minutes tops.
Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support!

My drive is 1hr 15 min each way, most of it highway
I find the drive home at night helps to refresh you as it gives you the opportunity to review whatever it was that pissed you off or challenged you from the days work .... before arriving home.

Fuel costs are approx $15/day, that's the part that bits

Must be nice all you work-at-home people!

My commute is 20-25 mins door to door. I'm thinking about moving to Greenwich, CT, which would make my commute 1 hr 10 mins to 1 hr 30 mins. Don't know if it would drive me up the wall, but it would be nice to get away from the city and live around clean streets and grass.

it was 4.5 mi. Total time 8 minutes. I will not travel to work. Especially here in L.A. If it's over 25 minutes away, it's too far.

45-1 hour in South Texas morning traffic. 30 minutes on the way home.

I hate morning rush traffic.

Its not really exhausting, just a tough way to start the morning, and I'm not even commuting from out of town, just from the far west edge to downtown.

1.5 miles, about 5 minutes from car to parking space.

I enjoy driving in rural areas and on the interstate, just not in cities or populated areas.

Re: What is Your Door-to-Door Commute Time to Work?
bump.. that 1.5 miles/5 minutes is going up to 26.5 miles or about 25 minutes.

Fortunately of those 26.5 miles, 23 or 24 of them are speed limit 65 which around here means 80.
