So much for helping the middle and lower classes in the USA. I do wish Obama and his team would be more thoughtful and more careful about the plans they are just rushing through because the Democrats in Congress and the Senate will pass anything he wants them to no matter what the consequences are to the rest of us.

The Cap & Trade green credit thing is nothing more than selling "indulgences" to get out of Purgatory. It is selling the right to pollute and all the costs of it will be passed on to the consumers. It is a scam and the green credits are just a big money maker for the government that all of us will pay.

Fine if they want to cap and regulate emissions. I am all for clean air. But they do not have to put even more strain on everyone's budget to do it.

There are clean ways of generating electricity and clean ways of processing coal for energy use. Require that they be used. Use wind, solar, clean coal,methane, water, & whatever.

We are already paying higher food prices because corn, a food crop, is being used for ethanol when they could be using other things.

No there are not.

Unless you consider demo'ing away whole hills to be "clean".

Alternative LARGE energy sources are still in infancy ~ it will take time to get them large-scale.

Burning it in a controlled situation, e.g., firing large power plants is the sanest option ~ it damn sure beats a gazillion home heating systems burning coal, as was the case not too long ago.

These INCREASED TAXES and PENALTIES that hit the energy producers (and all producers of things we need and want) are coming at exactly the WRONG time ~ for as even Obama pointed out ~ those costs will be passed along to the consumers.

We need not worry...the extra $13 "tax cut" per pay period we'll be getting from the stimulus plan should cover it, right?

we are practicing heating only one room .. and soap up first the turn on shower head for quick rinse ..we do not let the shower run any more ..we eat cold veggies from cans and heat our meat course ...utility bill dropped 75 percent ..use nite light light in bathroom .and bedrooms .lots of blankets in cold bedrooms..we stayed healthier this winter .

Technically you are correct. However there are a few problems with the current system.

First, it is cost prohibative for the average person to install solar at their home. Cost of Pannels, Converter, Installation, permit (if you can get one) all add up to a 30+ year payback.

Second, not all utilities allow you to istall your own generation.

Third, most homeowner associations do not allow pannels.

Until there is a federal mandate that trumps the utilities and the HOA's, this will not work for the average person.

And the costs must come way down ...

I was not totally speaking of homeowners so much as Small Businesses.

This is also the exact reason for this caps is to spur growth and profitable or renewable energy buy dumping the money into these technologies to speed them up!
