"(Bush) leaned across the table and said: ´I´m not taking this position, but some future president is going to say, Why are we paying to defend Canada?´," the official was quoted as saying.

He still doesnt get it, that Canada doesnt NEED the US protection.

We are not of the same cloth as the US we have good standing in the international community.

Well today yes, but who knows about tomorrow.
And really we have been protected for 50 years at their expense. So they are merely protesting
while they are running in that direction so as not to be seen as being overly eager to accept such a gift. The difference being the public opinion
of the straw hat wearing tractor riding masses,
which complain when there is not enough rain, and complain some more when there is too much rain, and when there is just enough rain, they complain
anyways because you know it won´t last.

Anyways just to clarify, its a done deal.
They discussed the whole arangement during the NORAD amendments last year. So essentially to sell it to the general public, you may need to tie it in, with the North American Security
Zone and mention that it can be used to
discourage terrorism as well, because it could be used to shoot down rogue jets.
The kind that flew into New York.

That is probably sufficient to convince the people. Anne would probably stand up and say it is part of the new defense initiative.
The Torries do not want to be seen as anti-American, they are pro American, so they cannot really go against an American initiative without appearing strange all of a sudden, and tied in with terrorism, the Torries surely are not pro terrorist are they? My heavens no.

So there is no negotiating this by including it with the gay marriage laws, or that as these are separate issues.

And Mad Cow I think that is a non issue as well
from what I´ve heard. It ties in with other pollution issues and that is going to be a long process to turn that around.
So the beef is safe to eat, but it doesn´t taste as good as it used to I don´t think, and that is because of pollution and eventually these things catch up with you and you just have to accept it or fix it.

Canada has natural resources and America has industrialization so it is a match made
in a back room somewhere I think.
