Anonymous Coward User ID: 484854 United States 03/11/2009 12:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the secret is to not use your keyboard. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 529255Actually, this is true. You can go to a website at [link to strongpasswordgenerator.com] and have it create passwords for you. And then, you can copy/paste the password into a text document. Whenever you need to use that password, you should open the text file, copy the password that is in there to your clipboard, then go to the screen where you need to input your password, and simply press ctrl-v (paste). If you have a keylogger on your computer, it will only log your key presses. It will see that you pressed the keys for the website's domain name. Big whoop. But the keys it logs you as pressing will only be CTRL-V rather than the password itself. For even more security, you might consider putting the file that contains your passwords onto a removable flash drive or such. And only have it attached to your computer when you actually need to access it. |

I bet you have a ton of tips (hint, hint). |

The hardware can be undetectable by scanning, but easily found on the computer system. The software is harder to find, but there are plenty of programs that will detect the majority of them. |

If you wake one day soon after and notice that your missing money then you know you probably have a keylogger. :) |

falldown User ID: 520470 United States 03/11/2009 06:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, there's a theory floating around some tech circles that there's a remote-activated keylogger built into every keyboard sold in the US. It wouldn't be hard to do, and unless they activated it, no one would know it's there, and if windows pipes the keylogger invisibly, you'll never know someone was recording you. Because we don't really know what sort of secret deals are made with corporates, it's not as unlikely as it sounds. Of course, it doesn't even have to be that sophisticated. A simple radio receiver/recorder within a few feet (or yards, if it's sensitive/focused enough), can record the pulses as your keys activate, and have been used for years to spy on people. The advantage there is that you can put it anywhere, retrieve it later, and you have a permanent record of the information, for later review. It's not hard to do, any kid with a moderate knowledge of electronics (or plans from the internet) could be recording your info anytime. In the past, these things have mostly been used by cops and similar, but nowadays it's not unusual that someone stakes out coffee shops, and when you carelessly go to the counter for a refill, they walk out with not only your laptop, but access to anything on it. ~ ~ "He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words." ~Elbert Hubbard |

It means that you shouldn't scrap something that is good just because it isn't perfect. Quite frankly, the advice I gave is very good advice. Is it perfect advice? Of course not. As you said, SOME keyloggers are more advanced. But having said that, obviously some are less advanced. That's just common sense/logic there. |
