Absolutely nothing.

We will work and give our paychecks to him. He will, in turn, balance the budget and give earned income credits to the illegals and make it legal to hire them...but, not require them to pay taxes......Socialism, I mean, communism at its best!!!!

Well he's off to a good start with the new, creative taxes...like on tobacco..

Presently, the tax on a pound of tobacco is a little over one dollar...Come April first, this will increase to over $24 for that same pound of tobacco...

Now, if we increase that tax further, improving on this brilliant idea, to let's say, $700 or so, this will rapidly help reduce the debt and deficit...I know this is a small step, but together, holding hands in solidarity...well....

We will see the Gasoline Tax increase up to $2/gal
We will see an excise tax on all Guns/Ammo/Reloading
Components up to 500% (only the rich will be able to shoot)
We will see a Stock Trade Tax

I expect an Excise Tax on everthing up to 5 Cents
I expect a Federal Water Usage Tax
I expect a Gas Guzzler Tax on vehicles below a certain MPG
I expect a Multiple Car Tax
I expect a Recreational Vehicle / Boating Tax
I expect a Two Cylce Engine Tax
I expect a tax on homes over a certain sq footage (say 2800)
I expect a Home Owner Nat Gas consumption penalty for anyone that consumes over a certain MMBTU / month (or day if they have smart meters)
I expect a Home Owner Electricty consumption penalty for anyone that consumes over a certain KWH / month (or day if they have smart meters)

Basically they are going to tax the shit out of everyone to pay it down. Now if you are part of the administration you are expempt from any and all of these taxes.

Meaning, halve the depth we get into debt every year.

We will STILL be getting deeper into debt.

We aren't even in surplus territory like we had at the end of the Clinton years [where everyone in Congress was falling all over themselves to "SPEND THE SURPLUS" without talking about doing anything about the debt].

Obama is such an asswipe. I could cut the budget deficit in half in the next 1-2 years.

Yeah in 2012...probably why he's quadrupled it... so far, so he can cut that in half and say "We did it!" Trillion dollar deficits are going to be the norm for the next 10 years or so I think was the last line? It'll be that easy...a lot of the spending in his latest bills are perpetual spending...those new govt programs will not go away, and they never get less hungry for funding.

That's some shoddy reporting by cnn.com. The writer seems to want to use the terms "deficit" and "debt" interchangeably for some odd reason.

Obama is clearly referring to the budget deficit and not the national debt.

well Im not a believer but this is why he claims he can do it. He does not consider it to be debt if he spent it. Its only debt if Bush spent it so when he says hes going to "pay off half the national debt in 4 years" he only means half of what Bush ran up.

Obozo spent more in a month than Dubya spent in 8 years and hes just getting started so once Obozos first and only term is up his deficit will be one for the history books.

I could have sworn he said he would cut the national deficit in half by the end of his term but I could be wrong. Of course I could be right and he is just back peddling now and switching the words around thinking nobody will notice.
