Does anyone know the restrictions of air travel over a designated wilderness area??

Are there restrictions? I would appreciate help in where to go for info.

Fuel dumps?? interesting. I have seen military aircraft flying low above the canyon walls. They break the sound barrier.

Anyway,...thanks for your time.

Zack,
There are all kinds of restricted and prohibited airspaces over all areas. What is the location you are speaking of and I will check for you.

Re: Air Traffic control question,…
Any resticted areas or MOA's (military operations area) will be marked on a sectional (pilots map) for that area.

Although, an area can be placed under a temporary restriction such as the airspace around where the president is at anytime. That restiction will be posted in a "NOTAM" (notice to airmen) and the pilots will be notified when they file a flight plan or check with flight service.

Don't think they are breaking the sound barrier below 10,000' the speed limit is only 250 knots.

Go to www.airnav.com and put in your airports ID to get any info in that area.

Zack it is in the White Sands Testing Area. No over flights permitted for non military aircraft. You can obtain a FAA Sectional from your local airport:
ALBUQUERQUE Sectional Chart
IFR Low Altitude Charts #L-3/L-4

You can purchase them at:

Military are exempt from the restriction and super sonic speeds are often practiced in the area.
