Neesie User ID: 254206 United States 03/15/2009 02:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | have him take some mouthwash and hold it in his mouth on the tooth for a few minutes. (preferably listerine) it will kill the infection and cause instant relief. if it still hurts after that take an aspirin and put it on the tooth and hold it there lightly. don't eat it. don't let it touch the sides of your cheek, it is an acid and it will eat through the nerve that is causing distress. my brother in law who was a mechanic used to do this with battery acid on his tooth. Spit out the nyquil. heard it from an emergency room nurse. should last an hour or more. Repeat as necessary. |

Go to a good store and buy a good cold pressed oil...sesame oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil...organic ONLY. Read here because you DO NOT want to do it wrong and you have to spit it in the toilet so you don't contaminate your sink. |

It should only take a few hours to a day to relieve the abcess, depending on severity. |

FF User ID: 456207 Austria 03/15/2009 02:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sometimes only pulling of the tooth helps, try to find out if someone knows a dentist who might give you a discount. I tried all the advices mentioned here on this thread and while some work and can delay the problem up to half a year in the end the tooth has to be pulled. I have to add that milk products should be completely avoided if you have pain, often the aches go away within a few days then. |

I am a nurse, granted not a dentist, however I'm well aware of the consequences of what this COULD turn into. Please get to the ER and at least get some antibiotics...amoxicillan 500 mg 3x a day for 5 days will work. If you let this infection go it can and will eventually get into the jaw and not to scare you but it can over time affect the heart. The infection or any blood build up could enter the blood stream and reak havoc on your cardiovascular system. Regardless if the tooth is pulled or saved, YOU NEED TO GET RID OF THE INFECTION ASAP!!!! There are places to go for people who don't have money or insurance...just have to look up what is around your area...the one post of a dental school is a great idea. Also check local health organizations in your area! Good luck! |

In the meantime, I have used very hot salty water, mouthwash, even liquor swished around in the mouth to help. Chewable Tylenol, infant Tylenol drops, cove oil, all that will help with the pain. I've never been in so much pain as I was when I had a wisdom tooth break. Use whatever you have on hand to make it bearable until you can get to the doctor. Antibiotics should start helping within a few hours, but it wouldn't hurt to keep washing his mouth out and putting on painkillers, as long as he does't overdo them. It may take a few days to get into a dental clinic to have the tooth itself taken care of, but you don't want to wait that long for the antibiotics. |
