* Fix the Economy for $40 Billion *
I got this solution in an email.

Dear Mr.President,

Patriotic Retirement:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay each of them $1 million in severance pay ($40 billion total) with these three stipulations:

1) They leave their jobs --> Forty million job openings (Unemployment fixed).
2) They buy NEW American cars. --> Forty million cars ordered (Auto Industry fixed).
3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage --> (Housing Crisis fixed).

Now that's a lot less money than two TRILLION frigging dollars @!!!!@!!!!

But, it's at least as good as the math magic that DC and Geithner are using.

Ummmm

There's a thousand millions in a billion.

And a thousand billions in a trillion.

So 40 million times 100,000 is 40 billion.

40 million times a million is 4 trillion.

I'm not absolutely positive on that, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works out.

True.

And at least if they just gave it to us, we'd spend it here in America, instead of laundering it and sending it to Tel Aviv.

Yes of course.

It's SO much smarter to steal it from people who aren't even born yet, and give it to a bunch of sleazy Jewish bankers, like they're doing now instead.

See how predictable you people are, i already included bankers in the list of dipshits who should not be receiving anything for free just to appease your super narrow world view.

IF the numbers were actually workable...

THE FANTASY
1) They leave their jobs --> Forty million job openings (Unemployment fixed).
2) They buy NEW American cars. --> Forty million cars ordered (Auto Industry fixed).
3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage --> (Housing Crisis fixed).

THE REALITY
1)They keep their jobs, keep the money, keep the SS benefits. Those who do quit are not replaced because their jobs were redundant in the first place. (employment weakens)
2)They buy golf memberships, a golf cart and booze. (auto industry gets more bailouts)
3)They buy a second home in Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, dumping their huge, over-priced US homes on the market. (housing crisis deepens, more "home-owner rescue plans")

Obviously a bored housewife came up with this "brilliant" plan.

Nice to see the American mind at work.
In the first place, people can be trusted a little more than that scenario would suggest.
I don't think those people would react that way. Especially if the government "asked" them to follow certain requirements.

And some say the money would not be available. Well, someone by the name of Ron Paul had that solution easily figured out...
...all our government need do is close all the World's U.S. military bases and bring home all our troops overseas...yes, including the ones in Iraq and Afghanistan (Israel can take care of keeping the primitive militaries of the Islamo-Fascists in check...they don't need our help, they just need us to unbind their hands).
Then we end all aid (not trade, just cash donations), to foreign nations. Yes...ALL Aid! Including to Israel (again, they don't need our help).

Now guess how much money that would free-up?

Total Foreign Aid: About $24 Billion.

Bringing all U.S. troops home:
Well, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan alone have already cost us about $3.5 Trillion (The popular figure of $600 Billion is incorrect, for it's based only on what has actually been spent in Iraq..which does include the total DOMESTIC costs, to every American citizen, in price increases...due to the war).
By the way, for what the Iraq war costs, we could present each family of four a check for $46,000.
I don't have the exact figures for what it costs to keep our foreign bases operating, but we have troops in 130 nations Worldwide.
Do the math.

Now there's also the failed "War on Drugs" which is a total joke. At least $500 Billion has been spent since the 1970's.
The government would make much more than that in taxes, by making drugs legal.
By the way, did you know...the number of deaths per year attributed to illegal drug use. Including opiates, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines, are between 1,500 to 2,000.
But the ANNUAL number of deaths from the side-effects of LEGAL prescription drugs ("medicine"), is over 100,000!
Yet the owners of pharmaceutical companies are never prosecuted (though some of their crony doctors are). Yet dozens of average citizens, who grow marijuana for the pain relief of terminally ill patients, get locked up in jail every day. And how much is that costing us!?
And thousands of people die every year from alcohol related accidents...and from tobacco related illnesses.
But how many owners of liqueur and cigarette companies have gone to jail?
Pharmaceutical companies have even been known to offer doctors with 6 figure bribe$ to use their own patients (like human guinea pigs), to test their drugs.
How many of them have been put in jail?

Now we also have to figure the cost to fight crime and rehabilitate all the young people who were jailed or imprisoned for minor drugs offenses, (and who never had a previous criminal record), but were then educated in the criminal universities of such prestigious campuses as San Quentin and Rikers Island.
Not to mention the costs of fighting all the crime of theft, prostitution and murder, committed by drugs addicts.

So i would imagine those figures would be in, at least, the tens of billion$.

There's also the ridiculous costs of running the Federal Reserve, the IRS, the Dept of Education, and others...like FEMA and the welfare offices.
By the way, did you know...
...personal income tax (which is illegal), only goes towards the interest on our National Debt...which the Fed created?
How many families would not need Food Stamps if they didn't have to pay taxes!?

So there's another $100 Billion or so saved.

Now, if this solution takes $4 Trillion to work, and if these savings aren't enough to cover it, then we simply ask the American people to foot the remainder...that is, CORPORATE America.
Corporations and billionaire business owners surely could pool together and cover the balance.
But if it's actually $40 Trillion, then we do have a problem. Not sure if that would be feasible.

Though the idea is on the right track, if we followed the above formula our economy would be saved anyways.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Shane

No, that's not it.

Look, I realize you're a noob, but this "idea" has been posted at least a dozen times. I've responded on a couple of the first ones, pointing out the stupidity of such a plan. After a while, it just sinks into ridiculousness and anybody who posts in support of the plan just makes themselves look stupid, too.

I could go into many reasons why printing 4 TRILLION DOLLARS to give to people over 50 is so dumb that it qualifies you for an Obama cabinet postition, but frankly I'm tired of trying to educate numbskulls.

I realize you have your own political AXE to grind, and if you want to start your own thread apart from this nonsense, then you may attract some discussion.

Re: * Fix the Economy for $40 Billion *
Hey guys,
40,000,000,000 (40 billion)
divided by 40,000,000 (40 million)
=$1000.00

I don't think I can retire on that!

40 million x 1 million = 40 Trillion (40,000,000,000,000)

So, what if it is a zero off? So what if it has been suggested several 100 times in emails? The idea has value if the people collecting the million dollars do not have to pay taxes on it and at the same time do not collect social security in addition to the million.

That give the social security fund a chance to heal also, takes care of the elderly poverty problems in country (it is terrible to watch people still working so hard because they cannot afford to eat.)

Invest the SS money privately so that the insurance companies (who do know how to make money on the premiums) can turn it into a lucrative fund again.

Since there would be 40 million less taxpayers to audit, we could cut the IRS in half and it would be years before we would need all of those social security employees again.

If that is still not enough money, ket's have congress take a 50% layoff... they obviously aren't doing anything to help us. In the private sector they would be fired for their horrible performance and excessive spending.

Well, there is the problem huh? You see if we feed and clothe those of the world, we lose money from our budget, which although is a good thing we still are hurting. Another thing though, people say "America needs to get its nose out of other peoples buisness" eg. conflicts in the middle east, Vietnam etc. If you say that, then why should we help anyone either? Yes we would as I said before clothe and feed the people who are apart of a terrorist/dictator ruled country but then what? We let the regime stay in power, and protest that fact? YEA RAH! Sounds great right? I personaly think not because, lets say the U.S. pulls out of the middle east right? Ok well the boys are back home. Well 6 months down the road, "oh whats this?", you say, "the terrorists are back!?!", well no way!! of course they will be back the countries we leave will just have a vacuum of power per se ready to be filled by anyone. So lets say we leave and we just "Help" the people there by clothing and feeding them right? Their lives are better for a minute but they face a growing threat of the terrorist regimes along with the threat they will attack the western world. The american economy would be slightly better for a minute but what about all those jobs? The soldiers need work too huh? Well where do they go? The military was the way out and now they aren't needed... so in the long run taking troops out of those countries and just "Feeding and clothing people" will not solve any problems.....rant

On your thing about firing congressmen, 50% are laid off so about 215-216 house members leave so many states lose representation all together, 50 senators leave so states have only 1 senator now and, that sir is really just Unconstitutional.
