It also happens to be a pretty good approximation of the number of times in a year which Mercury rotates around the Sun as seen from Earth: 3.15 (That is, it takes Mercury 115.88 days to orbit around the Sun as seen from Earth.)

Now divide 1394.56 with 115.88 and you very close to 12.

Using the "vernal equinox year", you get this many days:

42 / 11 * 365.2424 = 1394.56189 days

Divide this figure with the synodic period of Mercury you get:

1394.56189 / 115.88 = 12.03 ~= 12

Now divide the same figure with the synodic period of Jupiter and you get:

1394.56189 / 398.88 = 3.496 ~= 3.5

You might also want to cross reference this with Mercury transits (those times Mercury crosses over the face of the Sun rather than just close to it.)

Note that the Septagram shown is drawn by making 7 angles of 77-1/7 degrees netting 540 degrees which is 1.5 of 360 (the amount required to do this shape).

If you draw a Undecagon (11-sided polygon) the angle of each corner is 1260/11. This happens to net 360 degrees when mutilplied by the Pi number of 22/7. (27720/77)
