OK was going to sign off, found this site. A lot of you are probably familiar with it, NextQuake.com
[link to www.nextearthquake.com]
Magnitude 4-6 expected next week.
They do not claim all their predictions work but they seem to have a fairly high degree of accuracy.

Good find.
A 6.0 doesn't sound too fun.
I am in Orange County, CA and NOT in the mood for a 6.0.... |

It may or may not happen... supposedly they have fairly good stats. More data on that on the home page..
I have been thorough lots of quakes...been trying to get some of my family out here and been thinkin' of a quake on off for a couple weeks. I'm not out there in L.A. anymore now so my radar may be off, too.
You will probably be fine...

The Phillipines just had a five point niner on the 27th and it was predicted...the quake came in 4-5 days sooner than the predicted time frame five days, how close to the exact parameters of the latitude longitude not sure yet. They hit the mark quite often IMHO.

I was in the last big one out there - many years ago. Not in the Valley where it was worst, was Hollywood - but even so our building went off it's foundation and back on. Everything fell out of the cupboard and refrig stove all moved across the room and the hot water heater disconnected itself...none of us got hurt but nearby I could see where the walls fell outward on some buildings...honestly I've been in a lot of quakes that one felt far greater than the 6 plus-er it was reported to be...

[link to www.nextearthquake.com]
I did a quick tally for his prediction for the Full Moon period, January 20 through Feb 13 -although the time period is not yet done.
Out of some 34 predictions, 19 were close enough, within the data and circumference he had stated, to be accurate. Note: Several quakes he did not claim as having been predicted by him were nonetheless in the same region and within a couple days of the timeframe he presented.
(Hope I'm right here, so far he has about 56% right and the time is not up.)
IMHO he is worth listening to.
We are either going into a quiet time now or a gawd awful one soon.

happened about 930-10 PM last night. These are about 60 mi inland from L.A. These fall within the time frame and range of Nextquake predictions. These shakers pretty common in the inland empire.
There have been a few more quakes in the past two days south and east of these ones. 3.0 etc. Probably not much in damage etc.

That's a good question -regarding California.
I think Dr. RJ Roberts might have got this prediction (below) right. There was a just a 6.5 in the Sumatra area.
We'll see if he counts it. He's pretty persnickety on giving himself credit. He has a time frame, magnitude and a certain # of miles from the longitude and latitude. He takes % of accuracy when he feels he got it partly right. I have no idea how he does it. It is science.
Dr. Robert's prediction:

 | | Re: Nextquake.com predictions 4-6 So CA soon | Quote | According to Dr. Roberts this area is due for a quake. The magnitude is only predicted to be 2.5 to 4.5 - that may be, but I have noticed on a large percentage of his predictions, the quakes are a couple magnitudes higher.
No one wants a big one there in southern CA but I am picking up there could be one. Per Dr, Roberts, it will like from tomorrow through the 15th of March. Ides of March...
