Trader Joe's
I am really impressed with this store. The food is excellent quality and prices are low. The food actually tastes like food as opposed to the poor quality stuff most supermarkets pawn off.

Most everything I tried from there was excellent.. one exception was their spinach pie which I found to be a bit tough and chewy and some god awful goat cheese olive tapanade which tasted like old socks was a disappointment as well.

However, their meats, produce, coffee, frozen foods are the best quality I've seen of all stores, including whole foods.

Anyone else agree?

Yep! I could be a walking TJ's advertisement - they're great! They're bread is good...more organic stuff...big chunks of cheese that you'd pay twice as much for at the regular grocery store and get only 1/3 as much...great frozen food section...everything seems cheaper...friendly staff...I could go on & on! Buy all my laundry soap, dishwasher soap, sponges, tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc...etc...there and save lots of $$!!

Great store... Wish there was one near us.

We do have a great local substitute that just opened last year though.

I think you better look a little closer at the labeling when you infer they have so much 'organic' stuff. Over 80-90% of there stores items are NOT organic; especially when it comes to the food items. Only one cheese is, most of their meats aren't, most of their produce isn't, 99% of their nuts and dried fruit aren't and almost all of their frozen food items aren't organic! They portray them says as 'natural' and people think 'organic' but they aren't and even when they do have organics most are imported organics and not from the U.S.

The only area I agree on about cheap prices is probably their booze since it seems most patrons who go there, leave with cases of wine, etc.

I love Trader Joe's!!!!!!

Quality, healthy food for cheaper than anywhere!

The Balsamic Vinaigrette is the best I've ever had. I can't keep enough of it in the house.

I just bought the biggest, sweetest strawberries.

The TJ's near me is always always crazy busy! I forget stuff because I can't get to that side of the isle. the last time, it was packed with people. And, that was on a Tuesday!

lovecomm Yeah Trader Joe's is great. I went there quite a bit when I lived in Los Angeles. I sure wish we had them throughout the UK. Still Sainsburys ain't so bad.

Thanksgiving is coming. Who would short the turkey? Last couple years I picked my turkey up at Trader Joe's. Sure it cost 2 or 3 times as much as the local supermart, but these turkeys have been coddled their whole life. They've been fed only the finest organic foods. They've never had s sore word spoken to them. And after all isn't that what we all want?

My latest crazy is "short cakes". Trader Joe's has packages of shortcakes. The type you'd rip some strawberries and cream upon. However I just like the cake. So I gobble it all up like a scone the fell from an angel's ass.

Re: Trader Joe's
I used to shop at TJ's for the bulk of my food choices, since I have long abstained from: Safeway, Albertson's, Ralph's, etc.

That said, I have since learned that even the TJ's items that are marked "organic," are not USDA certified (not that I trust the USDA, CDC, FDA, etc.) TJ's is owned best I can tell by a German consortium, and are very private in terms of divulging info. regarding their produce, dairy, dry goods etc.

Conclusion: their products certainly aren't worse than most mainstream grocery store items, but aren't setting the bar the highest either.

Whole Foods certainly isn't GMO free either and have been caught up in a huge flap of late for not sponsoring the failed (rigged Prop. 37 loss), but is definitely better than any mainstream g/s. But, be prepared to pay inflated prices.

Overall, buying food is no longer a brainless task for those awake to the dangers of GMO's, and conventional (pesticide laden) foods.

Farmer's markets that vend organic produce are the healthiest and buy free-range, organic chicken; cage free, organic eggs; and grass fed beef are yor best bets. My 2cts.

All Amy's food products are non gmo, and listed on the package. You can get Amy's from most stores. They have soups, burritos, and los of other Mexican staple food. My pantry is stocked with their stuff. Also they supported prop 37.

In terms on minimally processed stuff, I'd select Amy's over almost anything else out there. I prefer fresh, though it isn't the most convenient I realize.

Trader Joes is wonderful...and it's so much easier to shop at then the huge stores full of junk, junk, and more junk. TJ's have just the stuff you need and little more to clutter up their stores. The staff are always top notch, too, may I add...helpful and kind. They are always opening up lines and saying hi to children. Often they have little samples out with good meal ideas.

It doesn't matter If I've just eaten. I always take their samples. Nothing tastes as good as free food. Within reason.

Tonight they were offering their Turkey Stuffing in a box. I ended up with two boxes.

There food is pretty good, I've been inside the store a couple of times, but I once went for a whole six months not buying groceries and only eating food salvaged from their dumpster, I also worked at a restaurant and ate food there, but their dumpster food is of impeccable quality.

TJ's has the BEST coffee beans anywhere, for 2/3 the price of starbucks or comparable high quality coffee beans at the grocery store. $6-9 dollars for a 13 oz. can that would cost $11-14 dollars at the store. And there is no comparison in quality, TJ's coffee is the shit! Their ethiopian beans are killer, as is the espresso and italian roast. I won't buy coffee anywhere besides TJ from now on.
