I'm a real huggy type, and yeah it made even me cringe. It's not like the woman's straight off the farm or up from Simpleton, Out Yonder. She must have met shedloads of VIPs by now - wonder if she's managed to constrain herself with all of them?

Weird. Weird and just, well, creepy.

What I wondered is why someone didn't clue Michelle into the fact that you are never supposed to touch the queen. It seems like Americans are always making some faux paux with the British royalty. Remember when Jimmy Carter kissed the queen mother? Why doesn't the social secretary or somebody in our govt. tell people how to act with royalty? Apparently Michele is popular enough over there that the press is cutting her slack and not making a big deal about it. The Queen was very gracious and put her arm around Michele after Michele put her hand on the queen's back. I think Americans have a thing about treating older people like someone to be petted like a dog. LOL

Well, I still think that she knew better. In a way, it was enduring, but I know that she was well versed in protocal. It made the Queen look very old.

It was a kind gesture by the Queen. MO looks out of place, felt out of place and felt awkward and it was her way of saying, Relax, you are going be fine.

The Queen looked uncomfortable to me. Whatever! It is just not done. Yes, she is old, but not decrepid. Alot of old people are very, very functional. Regardless what some think, I still think that she knew damn good and well what she was doing.

No.. Michelle was just trying to get the Ipod back her President husband had given the Queen. That's the 1st time I've see the Queen physically being touched or touching someone.. unless she's waving her sword about knighting her subjects.
I once hit the Queen Mother on the nose who was leaning over me to ask if I was allright.. so I apparently bopped her on the nose. I don't remember meeting her tho, as I was too young to remember the details, & I'd just had a major operation on the day she came to St. Michaels hospital in Bristol. Queen Mother gave me a silver egg cup to keep, which I still have. Hey.. sometimes I'll even stick a boiled egg in it, tho' it's needs a good polish now, it's dirty.
