If someone tells me "You have to believe this/me!!", I'm immediately skeptical that they might be a person who would benefit from perpetuating disinformation; whereas, if someone shares some information they've uncovered and has a relaxed, "Do with it as you will" attitude, then it's far more likely they're presenting what they believe to be viable, truthful information.

Bump.

Just want people to realise how many get caught up in this BS. Burden of proof is a classic. The first thing you see on any thread is someone asking for evidence...

The Dark Side of Debate
If you take a course, or visit a web-site, or pick up a text on logical fallacies, then you'll hear a lot about the benefits of critical thinking:

"It's important to know about the fallacies so that we can think clearly."

"We should avoid committing fallacies so that we can find the truth."

And so on, and so on...

This site isn't about any of that. This site is about something much more important that discovering the truth; it's about winning arguments.

Specifically, it's about using fallacies to win arguments.

Simple, easy to understand, should be printed out and always near your computer for when making threads or posting.

But debunkers who debunk using these methods are shills... Unless they know they are wrong but want to prove something or simply to disprove/discredit the ideas of another for whatever purposes. And trolls also use these to simply go around random posts and disrupt the threads.
