Does Anyone Remember Nelson Mandela Dying in the 1980's?

No, I remember he went to prison for many years, then I remember he was released from prison. After that I remember him being in the news frequently. His wife embarrassed him at times with her outspokenness, later she died.

I think it was a hunger strike that got him.

No he didn't die. I was semi active in the anti apartheid protests and listening to a African American radio station in DC. Trust me on this. The world was so happy when he was released. Tears of Joy.

I remember. I was in the USAF stationed in Colorado when I heard it. That was early 80's.

That would explain it.. Kinda like that movie where the family goes on living in their house and they here noises of "interlopers". Turns out, they were dead, and the intruders were living people, the dead didn't realize they were dead.. Sixth Sense had a similar idea. Do people who die a sudden death not realize and enter a zone where they continue where their life left off? (Vanilla Sky, sorta)

Walter Cronkite died a few years ago and was commemorated on the cover of Time magazine. I remember clearly when this happened. However... he is alive now.

It is not the first time Mr Mandela's demise has been announced prematurely.
In 2003, CNN accidentally ran his obituary on its website and earlier this year a fringe Rightwing-group claimed he had died. He was on holiday in Mozambique at the time.
He retired from public life three years ago after beating prostate cancer in 2001.
President Bush is known for making gaffes.
He mixed up Austria with Australia in a speech in Sydney earlier this month.
Then there was his unstatesmanlike "Yo, Blair" greeting to Tony Blair at the G8 summit in St Petersburg last year.
His sometimes muddled syntax and mispronounciation of words such as nuclear, or as the president calls it "nukular", have long made him the butt of jokes.
Supporters, however, say his folksy style has helped build his popularity with Middle America.

Yes OP, I remember Mandela dying as well. Mickey Rooney I was not as sure about. With him it could have just been I thought he may have, but I was sure Mandela had died.

With Jane Goodall I think it is because people confuse her with Dian Fossy.

I remember that weird looking half white rap guy with the tall hair dying of a heart attack.

Also, I have a comic book that was published in 1987, takes place in the future, and has a panel showing a memorial to Nelson Mandela, with the death date of 1989.

The anomaly I remember the most is when I read about Bob Hope dying.

I remember this well because he originated from Britain - same as me.

HOWEVER.... Two years later he "dies" all over again.

I can't work out whether it was a diverging time-line or a glimpse into the future.

Well, it may not be TPTB playing with the timeline-or it could be. I have no idea. I thought Jane Goodall died in the 80's as I remember an article/story we read at school about a chimp or ape researcher who died either because a gorilla went crazy and killed her with a machete or something like that. I also thought that Mandella died in the 80's, but I also remember him getting out of prison, so I'm really confused too. I do know that the deja-vu factor is incredibly high.

One has to keep in mind, though, that God exists independently of or outside of time. However, I firmly
believe that if God changed a timeline or events-no one would at all be aware of it changing. God is all-powerful and fully capable, so none of us would be aware if He changed a timeline or event or 10000. However, the satanic side and the humans who are aligned with that bunch are NOT all-powerful. There is some power there permitted to them by God, but they are the more likely ones to be messing with things if humans are aware of time-line issues. I firmly believe that with God, you would never even know it happened. Of course, what do I know?

Mickey Rooney died. Definitely. I remember because I confused him with Andy Rooney when I heard it.
