BOSTON — A genealogist researched Sen. John Kerry´s roots and found out information Kerry himself didn´t know, ( ) including that his grandfather, who committed suicide in 1921, was born Jewish.

For years, the Massachusetts senator and Democratic presidential hopeful sought the true story of his paternal grandfather, Frederick A. Kerry. He searched the Internet and asked cousins, but he was only able to learn fragments of the family´s history.

Felix Gundacker, an Austrian genealogy specialist hired by The Boston Globe, located birth records that show Frederick A. Kerry was born Fritz Kohn, in 1873 in the town of Bennisch in what was then the Austrian empire, now part of the Czech Republic.

Gundacker said he is "1,000 percent certain" that Kerry was born to a Jewish family. The birth of a son to Benedikt Kohn, a "master brewer," and his wife, Mathilde, was listed in church records on an addendum page listing Jewish families.

"This is incredible stuff," Kerry said in a story in Sunday´s Globe. "I think it is more than interesting; it is a revelation."

She established the Women´s Institute for a Secure Retirement in 1996 to educate women about pensions, savings, and retirement security.

Their mutual interest in environmental issues brought Teresa and John together. She was first introduced to John Kerry by Senator Heinz at an Earth Day rally in 1990. In 1992, she met Kerry again at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro when President George H. W. Bush appointed her as part of a State Department Delegation representing U.S. non-governmental organizations. She and Sen. Kerry were married in the presence of her three sons and his two daughters on Memorial Day weekend in 1995. Teresa has received numerous awards and 10 honorary degrees for her many works. In September of last year, she was presented with the Albert Schweitzer Gold Medal for Humanitarianism, for her work protecting the environment, promoting health care and education and uplifting women and children throughout the world. Sarah Heinz House for kids in the turn of the century was before her time. Sarah took care of the folks children who worked at Heinz. This is ridiculous. And who cares? Are we going back to the days of slavery when one drop of African blood meant you were Black? How about the other 99? And what does it prove anyway?
