Stop the cruelty now: Post links to negative portrayals of "unattractive people" here
The nasty behavior of Simon Cowan and the audience reactions to Susan Boyle's appearence were rude and hurtful. I think it's time to put a stop to this. Bullying, racism, homophobia are all illegal now. This is bullying at minimum.

Why does this belong on GLP? It is mental trauma, and in extreme cases, think Columbine and Virginia Tech. Is it tacitly condoned by silence on the issue? Do TPTB want this to happen occasionally to support gun control?

This behavior sends the message that it's okay to be mean to people who don't look like Brad and Angelina. If you don't have context, just imagine that your child wasn't "perfect". There's nothing you can do about it, nothing you can do to console him or her, just "well, I think you're beautiful." It hurts both of you.

Place links here to youtube or other videos in this thread.

This is an episode of iCarly, a kid's show on Nickelodeon. At timestamp 8:15 in this video, watch the cruelty aimed at the pie maker's granddaughter (the twenty-something lady) for the next 2 minutes (through most of part 2 as well if you care to keep watching). While watching, bear in mind that this is a show aimed at children aged 8-17. What's going to be on their mind when they go to school the next day?

Thanks for reading. Stop the cruelty now.

Simon Cowell, not Cowan. Just sayin'.

I've noticed more stuff like this on TV lately. I think overweight and unappealing (?)(is there a nice way to say this?) people are the only targets left.

This is what the people wanted. Well, here is your McSociety. No room for individuality and free thinkers or anything different...no, no. They want to pretend that they tout diversity, but the truth is, the masses are deeply afraid of anything that they have not been brainwashed and socially conditioned into accepting as "acceptable". Kids are encouraged by these shows to be little assholes and intolerant of other's outside of their cliques and niches. More than Half of the little braindead mindless twits that tune into shows like American Idol and other reality shows can only hope to be a morsel of the human that Boyle is. People suck, and they are pathetic. Every woman wants to be a huge sunglass wearing Kim Kardashian/Pop Tartlet toting an overpriced designer bag with an attitude problem. Every man wants to be with these sluts, and anything missing the mark and that is unique is labelled "ugly" and unacceptable as mate material. Society conditioning at work. Then, the commercials and media:..." buy this crap so you can look like the "stars". This new make-up will give you flawless celebrity skin. You need this to make you look good. Shop here, we have sales on all the shit you need to pretend you are Angelina Jolie on your tiny budget." Look at the images that are projected to people. Some minds are more malleable than others. Some can see through this sick programming, most cannot.

See the person within. Simple.

So by your logic, WE should be telling our own kids they're fat and ugly and no one loves them, just to prepare them for what could come from someone else?

You know, our kids could get hit by a moving car too, so maybe we shouldn't try to protect them from that. Should we push them in front of a car so they're prepared?

Allowing mental cruelty just because it's a possibility that it could happen is ridiculous. How about we teach tolerance and kindness instead?

Why do people think that mental cruelty is less damaging than physical cruelty? Bruises and broken bones heal a lot quicker than it'll take you to forget a particularly mean or humiliating incident. If you're ever able to forget it, or block it out.

Oh please, have you read any of the pins today? I think whether or not to tell the truth to someone whether or not they are fat or homely is a moot point here at GLP.

If there is to be talk about it I hope some one/s post a whole bunch O funny pics :-)
