What do you Southerners hate about Northerners?

Northerner's have attitude problems...Southerner's are laid back.

Another thing Northerner's do not know how to make sweet tea. Putting sugar on the table is not the same thing.

I have lived in every time zone in the US and the North and the South. The split is really about rural and urban, not North and South. I lived in a rural Michigan community that felt about people from Detroit and Chicago, just like southerners say they feel about northerners.

People in Minnesota will act nice to your face and talk behind your back just like people in Arkansas. You can find progressive diverse neighborhoods in Memphis and Atlanta just like you can in Boston and Philly. Guess what? You can find people who are not diversity friendly in Boston and Philly as well.

The big difference between Urban and Rural is that Rural folks are more insular. They know who the outsiders are and are generally uncomfortable with outsiders. However, in urban areas, you have little chance of having the neighbors come over to introduce themselves when you move in.

Yankees are woefully ignorant about why the Civil War was even fought. They have been brainwashed into thinking it was about slavery. They actually think that the North made the decision to send their sons to die in war to save a bunch of slaves from slavery when they themselves had slaves of their own.

Also, it's too cold in the winter up there, but that's not really their fault I suppose.

Yankees pretty much look down on Southerners, as though we're inferior to them in some way. In reality, Yankees are mostly boorish assholes who Southerners spend little time thinking about except when responding to stupid ass threads like this one. Unless I have to be around a Yankee, they just don't even factor into my thoughts. Also, I don't really hate anyone.

I'll bet if you asked 100 Yankees what the North's goal was in prosecuting the War of Northern Agression at least 99 of them would say "to free the slaves." Fukken LOL. I guess the victors write the history though. In fact, it was to maintain economic hegemony over the South, whose economy was becoming independent of the North, to the point that we felt we no longer needed the North and said "to hell with you, we are our own country." Without the South's agricultural base to exploit, the North would have become like modern day Detroit, a burnt out wreck.

For good Mexican you gotta come to my house! I'm in Maine, but was raised in Los Angeles, CA, and spent the last 12 years there in San Diego. I KNOW how to cook GOOD, basic Mexican food (not the fancy foo-foo "over-thought" restaurant crap). I've been here 12 years and have yet to find any Mexican food better than what comes outta my kitchen. :D

Yeah, I have yet to find a good Mexican restaurant in Maine. And I live just outside Portland, the *big* city here.

My family is pure Mississippi, although I've lived up north since my college days.

Southerners don't exactly "hate" Northerners, but they do often feel that Northerners are looking down on them. Kinda hard to really like people you suspect think you're a dumb cracker.

I'm from NC and I don't hate the north at all. Contrary to what another poster put up, I have been "out of my county" many times since I was born (LOL) and visited many of the states, including several in the north. I do think its "grreeat" here, but like any place on earth, there's issues that could be addressed...especially many of the roads. The way I see it, if your a southerner in the north, or a northerner in the south, and your bashing either place because you think where you're from is so much better, Ive got 2 words for you...go back. Pretty simple really.

In the north people dont give a good fuck about the southern people. They never enter the mind up there but having been in north carolina for about 5 months now Im amazed at how preoccupied people are with hatred of everybody. It's a lie to say that southern hospitality exists. It exists until you turn your back. Plus the only money in the south cames from the north. It took me four months to find a job in the trades even though i have 13 years experience and most of the work I have to travel north to get to.

SO why not just go back north? No offense intended, just honest question.

And even as a southerner, I can agree with you that southern hospitality does not exist..not in that fairy tale form that seems to be attributed here. Ive never seen it here and Ive been all over. I mean, I hold doors for old ladies and such, but thats not that mythical hospitality. Theres nice people here but Ive met plenty of nice people in my trips to the North too...I have no idea where the idea of southern hospitality came from. Theres assholes here, just like anywhere.

Very true. Sherman viciously destroyed the South under the command of Grant. If it wasn't under the directive of President Lincoln himself, he still did absolutely nothing to stop Sherman.

This movie was about a woman from New York who was raped by other New Yorkers. The movie had a city vs country theme, not North vs South.

New Yorkers are the worst. Trapped in their fake lives of Starbucks and shopping malls, they'd be hard-pressed to survive if infrastructure fails.

Southerners (at least where I'm from) are generally taught how to survive without relying on outside help or technological influence.

It's always funny to me that Northerners label us as stupid...until the best knowledge in the world to have will be a survivalist education. Then we'll be the smartest; Once knowing where to find the best sales at the store doesn't come into play any longer.
