Shot the Taurus Judge today
Quote

We took a super redhawk, snub .38 ruger .40, 1911 and the Judge today and put holes in watermelons orange juice, floor tiles and water jugs. Was a blast pun intended. havent shot a snub .38 in a while and i have to admit I was wrong in my previous dismissals of the gun. I was solid at 40 paces (not great but passable) and great at 20-30.

The Judge is a cool gun but a few problems i will list. It was the judge 3in barrell and chamber. ten paces is awesome but no range to it. (too much spread this was expected) it chewed up .410 rounds real well. I am not sure if we used the right ammo or not but the 45 long colts after firing the brass expanded to the point we had to extract cases with a stick. The power of the shells broke the little orange piece to the sight out after three rounds. the trigger guard almost broke my middle finger after firing. The 45 long colt pistol is a badass. You have to be a glutton for punishment to shoot more than 40 rounds of it I only shot 15 and went back to the shotty rounds. Even though the desert eagle is not a fav at all it is easier ot shoot than the Judge with long colts. the super redhawk is way better to shoot than the judge IMO.

All in all the Judge is the perfect home defense weapon inside the home. I cant think of a better weapon.

I will try to answer questions but gotta go to work soon for 4 hours

Honestly i have never shot it but it looks OK i have never owned a charter either so I will just say that it looks good I like shooting a .44 OTOH a 357 would be a little cheaper to shoot since you can put 38's in it. I am almost embarressed about it but damn the snub .38 was fun. I havent shot one in 20+ years

Did you try any 410 slugs, and did you use 4 shot or 6. I have one with the 2 1/2 chamber and haven't shot it yet.

Seems a vrey specific purpose firearm to me, almost zero versatility, but I'm sure it would get the job done for what it designed for...close quarter point and blast.

I own a Super Redhawk and have put many a round through it, so I know how nice they are. I also had a .45 Vaquero for a while so I know .45 Long Colts are not for the timidly built, lol....never was real comfy with Taurus build quality for the more heavy rounds or more complicated firearms....had a buddy of mine with that Baretta copy that was supposed to be good going round for round with me with my real Italian Baretta and his extractor broke in half....

If I had one of em...I'd probably never fire anything but the .410's through it. How was accuracy with the .45's? I cannot imagine great with the long chamber gap.....

I think the slugs only come in 2 1/2 and I could only find 6 shot in the 2 1/2.

I was thinking i didnt need slugs with the long colts but shit the long colt is no fun. I think if they made the trigger guard a 1/4 in further from the grip it would be a lot better and with the 3 inch shells the empties hit the grips a little.
