WHO considering whether measures including travel advisories, trade restrictions and border closures will need to be enacted
It is the first time Chan (WHO DG) has convened such a crisis panel since the procedure was created almost two years ago.
I guess we have to wait for the official announcement. |

It is easy to say if you are not here... just because your people did not notice there is an emergency state here it doesn't mean is not happening.
I'm to tire to translate this article.

but just to show I'm not lying or exaggerating.
This never happened in Mexico and authorities didn't really know how to handle it. Fortunately people here have some common sense... They did not make panic shopping, there is not massive exodus out of the city or panic withdraw of the banks. There was a massive shopping of vitamins, specially C, mouth covers and antibiotics disappear from pharmacies and drugstores but just that.People here, even the ones with out any education follow authority instructions given to them by the media. Maybe this is just an experiment to see how the masses react to the situation and how our authorities handle situation.
Traditionally Mexican population reacts very good to emergencies. We have a situation in Tabasco similar to New Orleans with much better result.
On 1985 we had a mortal earthquake that kills thousands here in Mexico city and it was the people who save the survivors, not the authorities or the army it was the people.
So when I say the city was practically paralyzed... it was paralyzed. Specially if everything is close 084M4-C41D3R0N %N0W5... 9/II 1N51D3 J08....AHINI 4L50 1N51D3 J08

 | | Re: Emergency state in Mexico city due to a new flue virus epidemic | Quote | ok here is the translation of babelfhis of the article
The rider of the contagion rode in the city of Mexico by half-empty avenues, desert sidewalks of pedestrians, happened against closed places of meeting or little concurred. This it was the Saturday in which the metropolis hid of the virus of new generation that has come to the world. Million inhabitants avoided to leave their houses, as they recommended the sanitary authorities. Many others went to the work, to take care of subjects, or to take a walk and to eat as in a day of rest. But this second day of sanitary alert was very different. For the first time that remembers, the City of Mexico broke its routine of stroll and diversion of radical way. There was a minority that it did not have where to go: the inhabitants of the street, the vagabonds, children without family, old who have remained without anything. Lost habitual in the multitude, today the needy ones were visible in the corners little concurred. That one musical chronicle of Chava Flowers, " Saturday, Federal" District; , that counts: " from the ten no longer it has where to stop coche" , by work of the virus of influenza one disappeared. There was space sufficient to leave to roll slow; to learn to handle; to park the automobile in the dreamed place. Masarik, for example, the avenue more " nice" of the country, where the motors of ultraarchideportivos cars rugen, it was a place at the disposal of that outside. The ushers of cars chatted among them, shook the arms in vain to attract step motorists. Meseros, florists, salesmen of treats saw spend the time. The taxi drivers of the zone of Polanco with their vehicles in formation were troubled themselves. A lost day completely. Nor to speak. Daily history the other way around than sang gift Chava Flowers: " Nor a ruletero wants that it to one llevar". There was place to park until a trailer. And to walk in the sidewalks. Course to the synagogue of Masarik and Sócrates Jewish families fulfilled their rest in a city that remained in its houses. In the streets near Masarik, like Julio Bern, Virgilio, Anatole France, the zone of restaurants gave sample of its success, with exception plenty. Horns, " it comes-viene" , " you, jefe" pass; , they in the evening gave the tone of a Saturday in Polanco. In spite of the uncertainty that has brought virus A/H1N1, hours of urban calm passed, like never. The inner circuit was solitary, like the Stroll of the Reformation with the Angel of Independence, the symbol of the celebrations, the victories of the inhabitants of the large city, turned into postcard without people, left. And the avenue Juárez, the forced step of marches and place of road knots, reduced his to beat. It did not seem the famous one access road to the Socle, to the heart of the country, the popular commercial zone of greater affluence: " An anthill does not have so much animal". And the very wide sidewalks of the Stroll of the Reformation without a at sight soul. It is the effect of influenza, in the second day of alert. The anthill is empty. gdh 084M4-C41D3R0N %N0W5... 9/II 1N51D3 J08....AHINI 4L50 1N51D3 J08

I think Feru is wrong to say there have been 40 or 60 plus deaths since Wednesday. The Health Min issued a national alert on Wednesday to all hospitals and clinics. The data they have compiled so far is 48 extra deaths that are suspicious. That on top of the 20 confirmed deaths since March 18. They are not saying WHEN these 48 deaths occured, but probably since March 18 which is the time they started to monitor this virus. Last night they said there has been no new cases which is odd since a "novel vireus" is supposed to follow a classic exponential growth rate. Quoting: AlreadyBuggedOut
well guys really I don't have time or energy to debate you... I just post what I see, read and watch here with the info I have here...
The Health Minister of Mexico says yesterday there was 81 deaths related to the virus. This is what the authorities says.. some people on Radio shows mentions the deaths are more. Same Mexican authorities says deaths could be more... this was yesterday when I wrote my other post you refute.

084M4-C41D3R0N %N0W5... 9/II 1N51D3 J08....AHINI 4L50 1N51D3 J08

FERU Do you have reading comprehension problems?. That is the only possible reason. The other one is that YOU ARE LYING.
What is wrong with you?. I read your link from "El Universal" Newspaper, and there is NOTHING in the article that says that the city got "paralyzed". Why are you distorting the words if you obviously know what the newspaper is saying?.
El Universal says: "The day that the city hid from the Virus" and they proceed to explain that due to the lack of people on the streets and the public places closed such as public parks, museums, etc., the city look semi-emptied.
Where the hell does it say that the city got paralyzed????.
"My people" as you call them, do not live in a bubble. They live and work in the city, they have contact with many people at work, at the grocery store, at their neighborhood. They have to use the "periferico" to go to work and guess what????...there are cars on the streets!!!.
The subway is as CROWDED (5 million people using it daily, FERU!) as usual because they have to go to work.
The city is in a preventive mode and that is why public places that are not necessary like cultural/recreational/educational/social are closed.
READ YOUR LINK AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME WITHOUT THE MELODRAMATIC HYSTERIA THAT SEEMS TO OVERWHELM YOUR OBJECTIVITY!!!
Why isn't the international airport closed, FERU?.
Why the american embassy which is in Mexico city, hasn't restricted flights in/out USA and only cancelled the visa interviews for a week to avoid crowds as a preventive measure?. Why are they open at all if the city is PARALYZED as you say?.
Remember: YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LIVES IN MEXICO, NOR THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS DIRECT AND CONSTANT ACCES WITH PEOPLE WHO LIVE AND WORK IN MEXICO CITY.
If you want to join the hysteria and panic, go ahead, but please, be aware that panicking and blowing things out of proportion is YOUR CHOICE, NOT THE FACTS!. |

 | | Re: Emergency state in Mexico city due to a new flue virus epidemic | Quote | I don't want to fight or debate, there is not point for that.
I don't really care if you don't believe me, I'm the one who is here...
But I do care that because of you others may think I'm lying. Because I'm not.
If closing all activities like schools from day care to Universities, stadiums, museums, all public activities, all sport activities, soccer, box, Wrestling, bars, theaters, concerts,
even the church cancel their services.
People did not go outside their homes, empty streets and avenues...
if that is not paralyzed then we have a semantic problem not comprehension... or in last case lack of comprehension from your part.
I know Mexico city, I live in Mexico city, I born in Mexico city and believe me it feels and looks paralyzed. 084M4-C41D3R0N %N0W5... 9/II 1N51D3 J08....AHINI 4L50 1N51D3 J08
