Recession Proof GLP...Eat The Weeds
This is my favorite Youtube subscription.

75 videos so far on edible plants. Thanks to this guy, I have identified tons of edibles growing in my yard.

Especially relevant if you live in south eastern USA, though many of the plants discussed grow worldwide in temperate or sub-tropical zones.

Sorrel grows wild all around the perimeter of my potato patch.

Tastes great. Sort of a tart citrus flavor.

Yes, lots of them. Many are typical of the more commonly known greens like mustard and collards. They can be bitter. Usually the solution is to boil them for a few minutes, drain the water, and boil again.

My wife's into hiking. Over the years she learned from other hikers about wild edibles. There are tons of wild edibles here. In a week or two, she'll be coming home from hikes with bags and bags of all sorts of wild eats.
The fist time she cooked for me she made this unbelievable wild edibles salad - topped with this wild raspberry and wild onion dressing she makes.
During summer she'll take trips down to the ocean where she gathers beach greens. Every summer the same people are out there harvesting down at the beach. People who don't know about wild edibles don't know what they're missing. It's a good, healthy hobby.

Thanks! Now you've got me checking all my plants.

Wow, I didn't know marigolds, mexican petunias, daylilies, and a few others were edible.

Very interesting, ET.

Saw Palmetto. My entire northern fenceline, about 500' feet long, by 6-10'deep, is covered with them. I didn't clear them, because they make a good natural barrier and habitat for little critters.

Re: Recession Proof GLP...Eat The Weeds
Now, I had to go find something that would really be good on top of those edible plants.

I've had this a few times, but I've never attempted creating it myself.

I will do it soon.

Champagne Vinaigrette

Ingredients

15 sprigs parsley, stemmed
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 cup champagne vinegar
1/4 cup water
1/8 cup olive oil
1/3 cup truffle oil
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Instructions
Bring a small pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the parsley for 5 minutes. Transfer the parsley to a blender, add the lemon juice, vinegar, water, and oils and purée. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

I'm thinking a salad with some beautiful edible flowers... along with the champagne dressing... mmmmmmmm

Apparently dandelion root is great for coffee. Roast it slow and low I guess, grind it up and use it as coffee. I need to try it, I have enough of them.

And the wine...does anybody know how to make dandelion wine?
