Hey Medic - Swine Flu - Cytokine storm
Thoughts for medical thinkers?

By-product of influenza is an over-reaction of the immune system.
Cytokine defintion

Cytokine storm
"Role in pandemic deaths
It is believed that cytokine storms were responsible for many of the deaths during the 1918 influenza pandemic, which killed a disproportionate number of young adults.[1] In this case, a healthy immune system may have been a liability rather than an asset. Preliminary research results from Hong Kong also indicated this as the probable reason for many deaths during the SARS epidemic in 2003.[4] Human deaths from the bird flu H5N1 usually involve cytokine storms as well.[5]"

1918 flu and (information available) swine flu effect those with healthy immune systems.with influenza. Onset of pneumonia has been a major cause of death.

Blockers of cytokine exist
"TNF-alpha blockers
Some types of arthritis medications are designed to reduce inflammation by inhibiting the tumor necrosis factor-alpha pathway to immune cell activation; these drugs are known as TNF-alpha blockers. One study[17] found that three different TNF-alpha blockers afforded a slight reduction in antibody presentation after vaccination against influenza in a group of immunocompromised patients, however it did not significantly affect patients' protective factor gained from inoculation. More research is necessary before any conclusions may be made regarding the efficacy of TNF-alpha blockers at reducing the effects of a cytokine storm in hospitalized flu patients."

Hmmm....

In treatment of serious cases of the Swine flu, protocal to reduce cytokine storm using alpha blockers or other methods to repress the immune system may deal with patient drowning in their own lung fluid and keep them living.

Just thinking

Wikipedia doesn't post a lot of home remedies.

If there's a doctor in the house. I'd like to see his comments. I didn't find yours particuliarly enlightening.

I think this is excellent outside the box thinking.
As far as my research went the only remedy was steriods and that was out due to the infection.
Heard a little about anti histamines...but I doubt that would do you any good in a cytokine storm.

If in the situation and someone close to me is dying with no alternatives, it's worth a shot.

Love the way your mind works!

Re: Hey Medic - Swine Flu - Cytokine storm
Colloidal silver and mms do not boost the immune system. They will not contribute to a cytokine storm.
Both are strong anti-virals, and will kill and virus they contact. That is why it is important to inhale the colloidal silver. Get it into the lungs and your viral load will reduce. This will reduce the cytokine storm if it happens. The lower the viral load you have, the less of a cytokine storm can be generated.

MMS is for oral use and will clean your blood system of any viruses.

cigarettes are your friend in this case.
Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict.
