Why would god want to wipe EVERYBODY AND EVERYTHING out except for a 500 year old random guy? How the fuck did noah live to be 500 years old? And do you realize this 500 year old man travelled around the world and get every species of animal? The earth is about 25,000 miles around.. Thats a pretty big fuckin project for a 500 year old man.. How did he get across the ocean? AND didnt noah realize that its not a good idea to put lions and deer in the same boat?
the story of noah and the ark is complete bullshit.. how religious people actually believe it really went down, is beyond me. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 391355
I don't think the entire Earth flooded. You need to remember that back when this account was written, humans had little understanding of the universe. There were also a lot less people around. So, whoever wrote of the event, may have thought that the entire planet was flooded...not knowing just how large Earth is. Was the person wrong about the flood happening? Perhaps not. They just didn't get all the facts correct. |

For those who would like some real scientific info on the global flood, there is a scholarly work entitled: Cataclysm: Compelling Evidence of a Cosmic Catastrophe in 9500 B.C. Written by a geologist and a paleogeographer, it catalogs the crustal shifting, the tilting of the Earth's axis, mass extinctions, upthrusting of mountain ranges, rising and falling landmasses and the incredible tidal waves that washed across the continents.
With all this scientific information pointing to that time, they conclude that only a large planetary body could have caused such calamity on the Earth. They call it Phaeton or Typhon but here at GLP, we'd call it Nibiru.
This is a multi-disciplinary study, incorporating geology, biology and climatological evidence. And this is also the time period of the frozen Siberian mammoths.
I personally believe the Bible and this scholarly work, reinforces my belief in the Bible. That Noah lived over 900 years is not surprising if you know that the Earth and its atmosphere was much different then. The atmospheric pressure was higher and the oxygen content was about 39%, compared to about 21%, presently. It's the reason that huge dinosaurs could roam the Earth then and why they can't now. The present atmosphere can only support a land animal the size of an elephant.
There were some before/after changes noted in the Bible. Some apocryphal books say that the animals came to the Ark of Noah, at the proper time, so that Noah wasn't involved in a roundup. There was no eating of animal meat before the flood, afterward, there was. Animals weren't hostile to each other, either. Also, Noah's grape juice made him drunk after the flood, whereas before, the atmospheric pressure didn't permit fermentation.
love this! Bumping for being interesting!
There was no rain during the time between Adam and Noah; "rain" was provided by a mist that came up from the ground. There was a water canopy surrounding the Earth, described in Genesis 1:7, saying the firmament (atmosphere) separated the waters above it and below it. I think the waters above were an ice canopy and the rain that came down for Noah's flood, was the melting of the ice canopy, which kept the atmosphere compressed. As it melted, the atmospheric pressure decreased. But the predominance of the flood waters were provided by the fountains of the deep, inside the Earth.
Anyway, all those who claim that certain things in the Bible are scientifically impossible, don't know much about science or the Bible. Science and the Bible are perfectly compatible as long as the science is honest, which rarely happens, nowadays.
Also, Noah wasn't a "random guy", if you bothered to read about it. His was the only lineage that wasn't corrupted by the fallen angels; it's why he was "perfect in his generations [genealogy]".

United States 8/6/2009 4:10 PM | | Re: How Did The Entire Earth Flood During The Time of Noah??? | Quote | i would like to say that the user CAPTIVE USER ID # 146476,,, YOU ARE VERY CLOSE TO WHAT I BELIEVE AND WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS HAPPENED. you know that how the actual event of the flood happened is not in the bible, but according to the bible and science, even theologians agree, long ago, there was a cap or a vapor that surrounded the earth almost like a shield from the sun. this shield kept many of the suns rays and such out of the atmosphere inside the sheild. which inturn allowed everything and everyone to live longer and by having this sheild, oxygen levels were much greater so animals and plants were much larger also. this all explains giants and the amount of years man lived according to the bible. also, at one time the earth was straignt on its axis and scients say that an astroid or something hit the shield (ice cap, or vapor shield) and knocked the earth off its axis causing the seasons and also causing the rotation around the sun to change. this change caused the shield to colapse quickly and with that on top of all the water inside the earth erupting, YES, THE WHOLE EARTH WAS COVERED IN WATER. scientist have proved that this occurance is verified by finding tropical plants in bellys of mamoths and such things. before the event, the earth was all one temperature and there were no seasons, thus the garden of eden, perfect. and also yes, man did not eat meat, everything was vegitarian, even animals. after the flood everything changed,,,, all of this can be seen clearly in gen chapter 1.
if anyone would like to study , i have a bible study titled the creation..... very spiritual inward and also unveals the mysteries of the bible,,, or like in revelation says, provides the hidden manna... |

NOPE is Scientifically possible for Earth to be complete under water, momentarily by a Geographic Poleshift!!! caused last time by NIBIRU!!!, cause the plates moves into the Ocean...

Jesus confirmed when he said the eath was flooded and "took them all away."
And that is what we find...the fossil record proves a global flood....fossils are observed forming in months, not millions of years.....there are sea algae deposites on all continents (cretaceous chalk geolayer).....polystrat fossils tie all the geocolumn together as rapid deposition.....there is no erosion between geolayers, as expexted......the mountains show evidence of rising rapidly after the geocolumn sedimentary layers formed.
There are underground aquaferes under great preasure.
There is an mid-Atlantic oceanridge wraping the earth where the water broke forth flooding the world.
The water is found today in the oceans.
Noah's Ark has been fund.
If the earth flooded (and it did), how did life continue? |

Which is harder to believe.....a world wide Ice age, a world wide volcanic event, a worldwide famine, (lack of water) or a world wide flood? Do you believe in the Ice age and other global large scale events......or acknowledge that there have been other worldwide events in history? Most Scientists do.
There have been several spectacular global events in the history of the planet. This I know, because we can see it in the 'creation' Christian or not. ('Nature' if your not)
So, what is so unbelieveable about a global flood.....but yet other equally and even more spectacular proven historical events are so much more plausible than that flood?
The logic and objectivity cited in your argument defies even common sense.
It's plausible. There are books and information available to make the case for both sides.
You either believe it or not. Simple. |
