I looked up history on 1918 and you are correct about the origin of 1918 flu ... and the military ( the US - not the Egyptian) military burned thousands of pigs and birds that they were keeping to feed the troops ... so why do we ridicule the Egyptians for the same behavior? Also, the largest subsidiaries of Smithfield (pork products ) headquartered in VA are in Kansas and NC - the first two states after TX to report swine flu. Coincidence?

Funny part is....The initial Blast kills the enemy in the tank or whatever and we go to mop up and are the ones getting poisened.

I found that was true from patients I took care of in the vets home, when the V.N. guys went back to "clean up" (1970s) they were the ones with the worst um ... war related syndromes. sigh - thats a whole other issue. (nite again!)

"They" dont want to call it swine flu anymore - for reasons discussed above. We were just wondering why, and why no SWINE flu in moslem countries when it is reported as a level 5 ( going to 6) world wide pandemic - ties to the 1918 flu, where we (USA) actually did what Egypt just did and burned the pigs because that is where the flu came from. We were discussing the possibility of protecting the SMITHFIELD company in Veracruz where it started and all that ... but we are tired now - gotta sleep ! Carry on if you like!
