OK, it's written in one part of the bible that when Jesus returns, people will be eating and drinking and marrying and carrying on as normal.

But, in revelations, we got 3 1/2 years of hell on Earth!!

What gives? Which scripture is right? They BOTH can't be right as they contradict?!?!?!?!

What Christ was saying in Mat. 24 is that just as in the days of Noah's life when the Napha (Naphal) fallen angels came down and suduced women as mentioned in Gen. 6 and several other locations like Gen. 14:5 which are the offspring of the fallen ones by the way of Rapha.
So shall it be just before Christ comes, they will be back with Satan and there will be 7000 of them with Satan.

He will return first for the Rapture of the church in the twinkling of the eye from east to west. The 7 year marriage supper of the Lamb will then be held in Heaven.

At the end of this 7 years, He will return as the conquering King to destroy the evil in the world, and the great white throne event will occur then the 1,000 year reign.

You can find scriptures out of the bible to cover any subject or contradiction written.
It been that way looong before the king james version which is just a copy of a copy of a copy of the orginal w/with words and scriptures re written to fit the times.

Go back to the original writings by the sumarians of 10,000 years ago to get the real bible scriptures and then you will have the true writings.

They are for their time and their time has long since past.

they are both correct. there is surprisingly no contradiction.

it's first beneficial to clear up a common misconception, which is that the "great tribulation" begins with only a few subtle undesirable events. but the bible clearly says that the great tribulation not only ends in wrath, but begins with it as well. this wrath will, as you point out, apparently come upon humanity as a "thief in the night", unexpectedly. this is one of the inescapable doctrines of the scriptures.

so if the great tribulation begins with wrath, and genuine children of god are "not destined for wrath" (1 thes 5:9), then they must be taken off of this planet before this cataclysmic period begins. so indeed, contrary to the common portrayals of this event, as depicted in the "left behind series", the rapture will not take place out of the blue for no apparent reason. rather, the rapture is a rescue, and those taken will make a last-minute escape from horrible calamities.

"Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; but at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued." daniel 12:1

"Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits. Come, my people, enter into your rooms And close your doors behind you; Hide for a little while Until indignation runs its course. For behold, the LORD is about to come out from His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; And the earth will reveal her bloodshed And will no longer cover her slain." isaiah 26:19

"Constantly be on your guard so that your hearts will not be loaded down with self-indulgence, drunkenness, and the worries of this life, or that day will take you by surprise. For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man." luke 21:35-36

"So it was in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed all of them. It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed." -Jesus in Luke 17:30

"Because you have obeyed my command to endure, I will keep you from the hour of testing that is coming to the whole world to test those living on the earth." -Jesus in revelation 3:10

this cataclysmic period is about to commence. in fact, it's quite possible 2009-2012 could be the "great tribulation" - lasting possibly 3.5 years. i cannot say for sure in this regard, of course, but am simply saying there's a lot of evidence to support it.

but yes, there is no contradiction. there are a plethora of misconceptions that need to be cleared up. the "time of testing" begins, consists of, and ends with wrath. this is the period of destruction that will catch much of humanity off guard.

so indeed, if business is going to be as usual when the initial event (most likely a pole shift) transpires, then we must be very close, for if we continue with the current trend, worldly conditions will soon be far from normal...

take care

In the Rapture Jesus come in the clouds.
The 2ND Coming, His feet touch a mountain.

In the Rapture, Jesus comes for the Saints.
At the 2ND Coming Jesus comes with His Saints

The Rapture's time is unknowable and imminent.
The 2ND Coming occurs "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days."

Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

In REV the last 3.5 yrs is the Great Tribulation FOR THE CHRISTIANS. The unbelievers will be eating, drinking, and marrying, since they have accepted the mark of the Beast and could go on with their lives. The Christians on the other hand will refuse to accept the Mark and will be hunted down and beheaded.

I have been saying for years that the Abomination of Desolation would be Satan himself pretending to be a god equal with the Lord God JHWH.

He, Allah, has had his temple built on the site of the ancient Jewish Temple to JHWH. That temple will be torn down when Jesus returns.

Matthew 24 is a warning that, "As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be again. If you have read the Old Testament, then you know that those people were totally evil and had to be destroyed. Thus when Jesus comes back the world will be just as evil. We are almost there.

Question: "What is the difference between the Rapture and the Second Coming?"

Answer:
The Rapture and the Second Coming of Christ are often confused. Sometimes it is difficult to determine whether a Scripture is referring to the Rapture or the Second Coming. However, in studying end-times Bible prophecy, it is very important to differentiate between the two.

The Rapture is when Jesus Christ returns to remove the church (all believers in Christ) from the earth. The Rapture is described in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-54. Believers who have died will have their bodies resurrected, and along with believers who are still living will meet the Lord in the air. This will all occur in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye.

The Second Coming is when Jesus returns to defeat the antichrist, destroy evil, and establish His Millennial Kingdom. The Second Coming is described in Revelation 19:11-16.

The important differences between the Rapture and Second Coming are as follows:

(1) At the Rapture, believers meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17). At the Second Coming, believers return with the Lord to the earth (Revelation 19:14).

(2) The Second Coming occurs after the great and terrible Tribulation (Revelation chapters 6-19). The Rapture occurs before the Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 5:9; Revelation 3:10).

(3) The Rapture is the removal of believers from the earth as an act of deliverance (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; 5:9). The Second Coming includes the removal of unbelievers as an act of judgment (Matthew 24:40-41).

(4) The Rapture will be “secret” and instant (1 Corinthians 15:50-54). The Second Coming will be visible to all (Revelation 1:7; Matthew 24:29-30).

(5) The Second Coming of Christ will not occur until after certain other end-times events take place (2 Thessalonians 2:4; Matthew 24:15-30; Revelation chapters 6-18). The Rapture is imminent; it could take place at any moment (Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:50-54).

Why is it important to keep the Rapture and the Second Coming distinct?

(1) If the Rapture and the Second Coming are the same event, believers will have to go through the Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 5:9; Revelation 3:10).

(2) If the Rapture and the Second Coming are the same event, the return of Christ is not imminent…there are many things which must occur before He can return (Matthew 24:4-30).

(3) In describing the Tribulation period, Revelation chapters 6-19 nowhere mentions the church. During the Tribulation—also called “the time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7)—God will again turn His primary attention to Israel (Romans 11:17-31).

The Rapture and Second Coming are similar but separate events. Both involve Jesus returning. Both are end-times events. However, it is crucially important to recognize the differences. In summary, the Rapture is the return of Christ to the clouds to remove all believers from the earth before the time of God’s wrath. The Second Coming is the return of Christ to the earth to bring the Tribulation to an end and to defeat the antichrist and his evil world empire.

This is another good study and site that shows the difference.

Re: I'd like to ask the resident bible thumpers this question that contradicts facts about Jesus's return
The 3.5 years of Great Tribulation will be started by the Antichrist in the Abomination of the Desolation... when he desecrates the Temple by declaring himself God to be worshiped. He is not Satan.

This event will happen as described in the 5th Trumpet of Rev 9:1-2 when Satan falls down from heaven with the key to the Bottomless Pit. He will release the demons and their leader Abaddon. Abaddon will possess the body of the Antichrist.

In Rev 19:20 The Antichrist and the False Prophet are thrown into the Lake of Fire immediately when Jesus Christ returns; while Satan is chained and imprisoned in the Bottomless Pit for 1000 years (Rev 20:1-2).

just put the word "rapture" in the thread title and watch posters from all walks of life and every conceivable belief system rip each other to shreds for 6 to 10 pages! LOL

you will see the words satanic and demonic tossed about with fervent abandon! aimed at fellow believers but of course if they believe "that way" well they either probably aren't saved, or are blatantly deceived to the point of hanging by a thread soteriologically speaking.

well thought out carefully considered alternate theories of several paragraphs are dismissed with one piercing sentence with the subtext "heretick" LOL

with that I'll bump "the Bible is a marriage contract" thread that really helped me last year. I'd link it but iPhones still can't copy/paste

God bless you and may you find peace in studying -- God is not the author of confusion and we are not given a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind

whatever happens we have to love our way through!

peace and joy

You are totally wrong. Satan installing himself in the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem is the abomination of desolation. The fact that the AntiChrist (Who will be the Turkish President) worships him there might be partial confirmation of what you say, BUT it is the Presence of a False God and Sacrifice to him that is the Abominiation.

Read your Bible son, and stop putting out false information.

How do you know the Antichrist is the Turkish President?

How can you be so sure I'm wrong when I have Scriptures backing my statements? How can Satan be thrown into the Lake of Fire but at the same time also imprisoned in the Bottomless Pit for 1000 years?

After the 1000-yr rule of Christ is over, Satan is released from the Bottomless pit to deceived the nations again to rebel. Finally in the Great White Throne Judgment, Satan is thrown into the Lake of Fire... WHERE THE ANTICHRIST AND THE FALSE PROPHET ARE!

Here in REV 20
10: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
