The World According to Monsanto - Full Documentary

So... from the tone of this thread, genetically modified foods are bad.
How many of you like corn bread? Tortillas? Beer? Bread? How about beef?
Every one of those foods are what they are because of people selecting the ideal plant/animal, using it, and planting more of it since it gave them what they wanted. Its even possible that Corn (Maize) would never have existed if this process had never happened. Corn's closest wild relative is the rather gnarly, Teosinte.
[ link to en.wikipedia.org]
Botanically speaking, corn is a type of grass. Most grasses produce flowers that contain both sexes, but corn is different. There are male flowers at the top of the plant called the tassels, and inflorescences of female flowers on short, lateral branches.
[ link to www.hobbyfarms.com]
So.. go ahead and knock genetic modification. Get your jollies. But remember, just the act of selecting a desired produce and replanting it so you have more... is genetic modification.
Can there be bad GM? Yeah. I agree with that. But not all of it is bad. Quoting: LURKING
There is a big difference between GM products and Mendel genetics.

We could send all the information to The Russian Government, because they put the Monsanto Plant right on a river in Russia, Al Gore as there to break a bottle of wine on it when it was completed. They really need to know what happens with the waste from that plant, I live in the area that Monsanto contaminated. It ruined land and water below that plant, people are still getting sick from it. |

No Jew would eat GM foods because they're not kosher. The disease and death caused by genetic modification is for the goyim.
You must avoid eating any genetically modified food. The studies were all shut down and the researchers fired because the results were frightening. |

I'm afraid your comments will fall mostly on deaf ears. Most of the more ... excitable ... people here simply don't understand that we've been genetically engineering plants and animals for millennia now, but the fact that we can do it more efficiently is somehow morally wrong.
Umm, DK... Do you really understand what is going on?
For starters...
They are attempting to outlaw people in having the ability to procure seeds for themselves outside Monsanto.
And the ones that are sold only produce seeds that are good for one year; thus making the farmer's dependent on Monsanto.

I never said that Monsanto or ADM were a bunch of saints; I merely said that people who decry gene modification while taking advantage of the gene modification we have been doing for millennia are simply ignorant of how genetics works.

If i get older and losing my hair,
Many years from now.
Will you still be sending me an early death
Hopeless fruit with genes ala' meth.
If i'd spent much to help the marquis,
Would you feed the poor?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When i'm sixty-four.
You'll be older too,
And if you say the word,
I could buy from you.
I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone.
You can pick employee by St Louie side
Sunday mornings go for a ride,
Doing the garden, making the weeds,
Who could ask for more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When i'm sixty-four.
Every summer I can work overtime,
In the isle of submit, if it's not too dear
We shall brick and lay
Grandchildren on your knee
Kill the Landperson to disobey.
Send me a reportcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
GM for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When i'm sixty-four.

they should be taken down, this evil little corporation. but the time for that was fifty years ago. far too late now. |

And this is why the Farm Bill, HR 875, (which is really a bill that creates a whole new food supervisory agency as big as the FDA), is so very important. The bill has been said to have been essentially authored by Monsanto. No, it doesn't say "You can't have a home garden." It is so broadly written, and the powers it grants are so wide, that it certainly could be used against a citizen growing their own food. It IS spelled out that if you have any kind of food production you must provide an extensive amount of testing and tracking data for their crop/livestock/food product.
Bill can be found here. [link to rightsoup.com]
The entities covered must use what THEY call "best scientific practices" in your production. Perhaps organic farms that grow non-GM foods, and don't use hormones, antibiotics etc. will be forced to change or close up shop. Small farmers will probably be crushed by the costs of compliance. Or, by having a GM-infected crop, and Monsanto comes knocking at the door...which is what's happening now.

FYI,
Once you have the add-on.
When you open a video or audio, look in the bottom right hand corner of firefox, you should see a blue icon and # (# of videos in netvideohunter). Click on the blue icon it will bring up dialog box that allows you to play or download file. |

You see, when I responded to dog-boy, he had gone off on this huge neo-Nazi rand , and seemed to be a hard-core Hitler admirer. I merely pointed out that it was obvious tht he shared with Hitler both the latter's liking of "natural" foods and his antipathy to Jews.

There's a companion film called KING CORN that explains what the effects of all the GMO madness are.
I saw it (and the Monsanto film) last year, and immediately went out to find heirloom seeds to plant in our home garden.
Take a look at this preview, then see if you can find it in full somewhere. Last year about this time, it was EVERYWHERE on the video channels. Now I can't find the full version. :(
