~BriZz~ User ID: 673574 United States 05/12/2009 08:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the only thing i have found to get rid of my migraines is vicoden, but i cant get a doctor to prescribe me any. so the only other thing that helps me is sleep. i just have to deal with it. they tell me to take tylenol, but i can take 5 or 6 and it doesn't help 1%. i know vicoden helps because they prescribed me 30 of them after i had my first son, and i had a ton of them left over. i took maybe 1 a month. but they still wont prescribe me any. they act like im a pill head or something. |

You would be convulsing with nausea over a bucket. Phenergan. Emergency room. Find a good neurologist who will prescibe strong pain relief. Migraines are hideous. Try to offer them up to God. Good luck. |

Quoting: ~BriZz~I can't sleep. I can't even lay my head down because then my head feels like it's going to explode. And I'm the same as you, OTC doesn't even touch my migraines. There is such a mentality with doctors now about prescribing pain killers - they make us feel like drug addicts. Such a shame. Thanks for your input. ~ Write your fairytale ~ |

I usually have about a 30 to 45 minute lead time from the first "signal." Edit: well, I've definitely got to log off. I'll read all of your comments later. Thanks! Anonymous Coward User ID: 271953 United States 05/12/2009 08:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some years ago I was lucky to find a MD who suffered from migraines himself. I no longer live in his area, sadly. I used pills left over from a Cesarean. I never used the good stuff unless absolutely necessary. I had heart issues with Imatrex, plus, that stuff only works if you can catch the migrain as it starts. My worst ones occur during my sleep and I wake up in misery. Avoid chocolate, peanut butter, high stress, eyestrain, too much bright sunlight. Take special care of great barometric changes. Use Benadryl often for allergic attacks - oak fronds(pollen) can be killer triggers. Take care with aged cheeses. I have not found a natural herbal cure, but parasite cleanses and good natural cleansing treatments do seem to help. |

To do that she keeps a strict, regular schedule that includes 9 hours of sleep every night. Goes to bed between 9:30 and 10 no matter what. She takes a multi-vitamin every day, and a capsule each of feverfew and magnesium, both of which are natural migraine remedies. She also limits her TV watching, and does NOT indulge in playing video games as both tend to exacerbate her migraines. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79958 United States 05/12/2009 09:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Migraines stem from unbalanced brain chemistry... Please take two table spoons a day of good quality hemp oil... It helps balance the hemispheres and provides a whole load of protein and Omega 3 and 6. Tastes pretty good too. You can cook with it.. NO coffee!! Try tea instead, but don't over do that either. Seasonal changes will contribute to the pressure but is not causing it. |

Quoting: Nothing Is TrueGOSH I HATE THAT!! I sometimes get only the visual and nausea...never getting the full blown headache. Usually though as soon as I get the visual stuff...(sort of tunnel vision/kaleidoscope.....nausea, a weird feeling of sort of being confused/unattached...can't describe) anyways I usually take 2-3 excedrin and a drink with caffeine ASAP...Over the years I've found "triggers" to my migraine and avoid them so I get them very seldome now. However this month I had about 3....in one weekend. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 677441 Japan 05/12/2009 09:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Strange, I just posted in the other headache thread...lot of headaches around here, it seems. I suffer from migraines too. I've found that NOTHING works except for Excedrin Migraine (or a generic substitute). I take 2 of those as soon as I get warning signs and it knocks it out within an hour. However, the trick is catching it right when it gets going because if I don't, I'll have a full-blown one anyway and the meds will just shorten it or lessen the effects. As bad as it is for you, it's the caffeine that does the trick. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79958I know one of my triggers must be a chemical/preservative in processed chicken meals....I can't eat anything like Chicken Taquitos...or any processed chicken meals without risking a migraine. Not all of them give it to me, but most do. So I just stay away from any processed chicken. |

Winnie User ID: 677312 United Kingdom 05/12/2009 09:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i used to suffer quite badly from them and the 2 things that have made them stop altogether are; marijuana (you could use a vaporizer instead of smoking) botox injections - apparently its something to do with the muscles above your eyebrows which i can well believe. its worth a mention to your doctor. honestly i havent had a migraine for about 3 years. happy now? |

Likely Story User ID: 677421 United States 05/12/2009 09:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You mentioned you get them more frequently "this time of year". What has changed? Allergies, sleep, home temperature? I find that changing anything significantly, be it caffeine, sleep, room temperature when I sleep, will give me a migraine. Find out what has "changed" in your life around this time and see if that helps. Good luck and I hope you feel better. |
