Today May 13th is the Anniversary of the first apparition of Mary at Fatima.

Our Lady of Fátima (pronounced [ˈfatimɐ]) is the title given to the vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary that was said to have appeared before three shepherd children at Fátima, Portugal on the 13th day of six consecutive months in 1917, starting on 13 May, the Fátima holiday. The three children were Lúcia Santos and her cousins, siblings Jacinta and Francisco Marto.

The title of Our Lady of the Rosary is also sometimes used in reference to the same apparition (although it was first used in 1208 for the reported apparition in the church of Prouille); because the children related that the Lady in the apparition specifically identified Herself as "the Lady of the Rosary." It is also common to see a combination of these titles, i.e., Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima (Portuguese: ''Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima'').

The Miracle of the Sun

The Miracle of the Sun (Portuguese: O Milagre do Sol) is an alleged miraculous event witnessed by as many as 100,000 people on 13 October 1917 in the Cova da Iria fields near Fátima, Portugal. Those in attendance had assembled to observe what the Portuguese secular newspapers had been ridiculing for months as the absurd claim of three shepherd children that a miracle was going to occur at high-noon in the Cova da Iria on October 13, 1917. [1]

According to many witness statements, after a downfall of rain, the dark clouds broke and the sun appeared as an opaque, spinning disk in the sky.[2] It was said to be significantly less bright than normal, and cast multicolored lights across the landscape, the shadows on the landscape, the people, and the surrounding clouds.[2] The sun was then reported to have careened towards the earth in a zigzag pattern,[2] frightening some of those present who thought it meant the end of the world.[3] Some witnesses reported that their previously wet clothes became "suddenly and completely dry."[4]

Estimates of the number of witnesses range from 30,000-40,000 by Avelino de Almeida, writing for the Portuguese newspaper O Século,[5] to 100,000, estimated by Dr. Joseph Garrett, professor of natural sciences at the University of Coimbra,[6] both of whom were present that day.[7]

The miracle was attributed by believers to Our Lady of Fátima, an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three young shepherd children in 1917, as having been predicted by the three children on 13 July,[8] 19 August,[9] and 13 September[10] 1917. The children reported that the Lady had promised them that she would on 13 October reveal her identity to them[11] and provide a miracle "so that all may believe."[12]

Re: Today May 13th is the Anniversary of the first apparition of Mary at Fatima.
I often wonder what the real third secret was about.

------------

The German magazine "Stimme des Glaubens," has published the following account of Pope John Paul II's interview, with a small group of German Catholics, on the occasion of his visit to Fuida, in November of 1980. We are reproducing it here for the benefit of our readers.

THE QUESTION: "Holy Father, what has become of the 3rd Secret of Fatima? According to Our Lady's instructions, wasn't it supposed to be revealed in 1960? And what will happen in the Church?"

'THE HOLY FATHER'S RESPONSE: "Because of the seriousness of its contents, in order not to encourage the world wide power of Communism to carry out certain coups, my Prederessors in the Chair of Peter have diplomatically preferred to withhold its publication.

"On the other hand, it should be sufficient for all Christians to know this much: if there is a message in which it is said that the oceans will flood entire sections of the earth; that, from one moment to the other, millions of people will perish...there is no longer any point in really wanting to publish this secret message.

"Many want to know merely out of curiosity, or because of their taste for sensationalism, but they forget that 'to know' implies for them a responsibility. It is dangerous to want to satisfy one's curiosity only, if one is convinced that we can do nothing aganst a catastrophe that has been predicted."

At this point, the Holy Father took hold of his Rosary and said: "Here is the remedy against the evil! Pray, pray and ask for nothing else. Put everything in the hands of the Mother of God!"

Then he went on to say: "We must be prepared to undergo great trials in the not-to-distant future; trials that will require us to be ready to give up even our lives, and a total gift of self to Christ and for Christ. Through your prayers and mine, it is possible to alleviate this tribulation, but it is no longer possible to avert it, because it is only in this way that the Church can be effectively renewed. How many times, indeed, has the renewal of the Church been effected in blood? This time, again, it will not be otherwise.

"We must be strong, we must prepare ourselves, we must entrust ourselves to Christ and to His holy Mother, and we must be attentive, very attentive, to the prayer of the Rosary. "

Here is what I've read.
The Third Secret of Fatima was to be revealed in 1960.
Many excuses have been offered as to why it has not been made public.
From what I gather, the secret was that heresy would soon to enter the Church at the highest levels. This heresy (or false teaching) would be inspired by the Devil.

Vatican II, was the twenty-first Ecumenical Council of the Roman Catholic Church. It opened under Pope John XXIII on October 11, 1962 and closed under Pope Paul VI on December 8, 1965.

What did Vatican II do to the Church?
It effectively destroyed it by changing the Mass, and incorporating modernist teachings into the Dogma's of the Church.

The results are obvious in that the Church is losing members constantly. Few are considering priesthood. Rapist priests are protected and transferred. The Churches are little more than stripped out warehouses.

I would say the Devil did his job quite effectively.

The Church is now pandering to Jewish interests.

Pope Benedict Declares in Jerusalem: Catholic Church Will Cease All Missionary Activity among Jews and prevents Reinstatement of "Holocaust-Denying" Bishop Williamson

Pope Benedict announced on May 12, 2009, that the Catholic Church "will henceforth desist from all missionary and conversion activities" among the Jews. His stunning rejection of the New Testament Jesus Christ confirms his previous statement as head of the Church's Doctrine of the Faith, that the Jews can look for their own Messiahs.

At the meeting with rabbis, staged next to Jerusalem's Great Synagogue, Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yona Metzger thanked Benedict-Ratzinger for his announcement, calling it an "historic agreement and for us, an immensely important message."

Rabbi Metzger also thanked Benedict for preventing the reinstatement of "holocaust-denying" Senior Bishop Richard Williamson, currently living in exile outside of London. "Had you not done so," rabbi Metzger explained, "a message may have been understood by another Holocaust denier.... I commend with appreciation your clear proclamation that anti-Semitism is not only a sin against the Jews, but also a sin against God."
