An employee of the TD Canada Trust branch at 80 Thickson Rd. S., south of Dundas St. E., was approached by a man in a wheelchair over the noon hour, Durham Regional Police said in a press release. "The suspect stated he would blow up the branch with explosives strapped to his wheelchair," police alleged. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash before wheeling away from the scene. A 63-year-old man, who is confined to a wheelchair due to medical issues, was arrested at his home near the scene on a charge of robbery. Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5355 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
