Every time he would push it on the cart would move, so at first i put my foot on the cart to steady it then he stood up and i realized he was in his late 60s. He says shit, this one is ripped. so i go around, pull it off. dig thru a pile of 40 pound bags and find a good one and put it on his cart for him, he says he wants two. so i dig around and shove another one up under there. (Im a heart patient, this isn't good for me either) As im shoving the second bag up under his cart my shirt rides up a little and I guess he caught a glimpse of my pistol. He asked if i was a police officer, I said no sir. No thank you or anything he says "I cant wait till Obama Takes your guns away" I was shocked. So i replied "I cant wait till he takes over health care and decides your too old to be worth the cost of the medical care you need." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 674796 United States 05/18/2009 02:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sure, attractive women get a lot of nice things done for them simply because of their good looks, but all too often men give way too much creepy attention to a goodlooking woman and it makes her dread any stranger doing anything nice for her. It starts off with a nice gesture, you say 'thank you so much', and they see it as an opening to ask you all kinds of personal questions that you don't really want to answer because it's a strange guy looking at you like you are a steak and he hasn't eaten in a week. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 513405Thank you AC These are the exact feelings and attitudes im talking about. Just read it, it speaks for itself and is more of the reality about human interactions then the OP's feel good isolated incident. Which i guess means OP gets some points for this not being a Some "creepy dick loser at the post office brought stamps for me" Maybe some people are ok? There are a lot of genuinely nice people and I don't want to discourage anyone from doing random acts of kindness. I just don't want strange guys in the post office or the grocery store to ask me where I live and where I work, because not a safe world for a woman, you know? I don't want to be a bitch to a guy who just did something nice for me, but I don't want to answer personal questions, either. |
WingedMichael User ID: 74289 United States 05/18/2009 02:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You are a sad idiot. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 513405But just to play devil's advocate, I have found that women who (for whatever reason, looks, social condition, etc.) feel that people never pay them attention actually get some positive help from people...they appreciate it that much more. When someone needs help...the last thing I look for is attractiveness. Your comment is more a sad commentary on you and how life has treated you than it is on society in general and, for that, I am sorry no one apparently helped you when you needed it most. See this is kinda what im talking about. You want to act like you a good person and high and mighty and shit. "When someone needs help...the last thing I look for is attractiveness." (Congrats BTW) While at the same time attacking and calling me a sad idiot because he does not want to admit that for the most part people suck. (except for him of course) Im more inclined to believe sad idiots are those who look at reality through rose tinted glasses. Let me now play advocate and assume that i am indeed a sad idiot who has been treated poorly in life. What do you do once you have made this assumption? You attack and point that fact out. While at the same time no doubt feeling really fucking good about what a badass person you are. Well i bow before you lord of kindness and understanding and what ever else you get off on thinking you are. Why don't you stop playing martyr for two minutes and try to understand that to devalue (the way YOU did) the kind act that turns into many kind acts and lifts the tide for all boats will not help you in any way. Also, to just kick it means that you don't expect that any kindness will come your way. It also says that your faith in humanity is so wrecked that you would rather paint the whole as 'sucking' (your terms) than think that they have any potential for redemption. I don't think of myself as a badass or a lord of kindness for being a person who simply understands the value of kindness and the effect it has on people. I also have a great appreciation for those who have the depth of compassion to appreciate a story such as Sireen's. Maybe you should stop trying to make me feel guilty for trying to be good and appreciate the kindness of others and just ask yourself why you carry the negative baggage that you obviously can't shed. |
Only Me Strawberry Girl User ID: 680180 United States 05/18/2009 02:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's amazing the smallest things we can do that make a world of difference to others. We never see most of these people again, so we often don't realize that we smiled at someone at just the right time or opened a door for someone or lean down to pick something up that someone has dropped. Someof these people could have possibly had a positive change of how they view the world, according to what we do and what point they are in their life. Quotes from Mother Teresa: If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one. Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love. Last Edited by Only Me on 05/18/2009 02:59 PM Goodbye, halcyon days... There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened. |

Nothing Is True User ID: 677526 United Kingdom 05/18/2009 04:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm posting in defence of what some here have hinted about in previous posts. I don't want to detract from this thread, but... (there it is again! 'but'!) I nearly said this in my first post. It's not easy for the white, western male to do the 'random acts of kindness' thing. Everybody is suspicious, which is a truly sad indictment of our society. I'll continue to do these things :) ..the people that think I'm a freak just aren't my kind of people. ..but they're growing in number. All part of the plan. Anyway Everything is permitted.. |
