PROPOSAL - Pressurized Pipe to the Moon (For Birds)
I was thinking...

I have billions of dollars. There must be birds out there that would like to fly to the moon, but can't for one reason or another. (No one can quite make up their mind as to why).

Do you think it would be a good idea to build a clear glass pipe to the moon that has a diameter large enough for birds to fly through?

It could be pressurized the whole way, and kept at a certain temperature, so birds would have no excuse to avoid flying to the moon.

This is developing and any input on this project would be helpful and stimulating.

Thanks.

What ever is in there has to fly fast enough to get there before death. Its 250000 miles, at 100 MPH it would take 110 days. Do you have food and beverage stops?

This is the exactly the reason to come to this website. This is almost as good as the guy who posted a year or two ago that he was going to the hardware store and listed a whole cache of instruments he was purchasing to drill a hole in his head to take out an antennae that was lodged in there.

God bless this forum. I like this idea.

Re: PROPOSAL - Pressurized Pipe to the Moon (For Birds)
Of course the Earth-bound end of the pipe would have to be fixed to some sort of track system that follows the circumference of the planet, probably at the equator, so that it can stay directly beneath the moon as it revolves around the Earth...

Seems like a small price to pay to aid the birds, however.

Re: PROPOSAL - Pressurized Pipe to the Moon (For Birds)
Moon is orbiting the Earth in a non-geosynchronous manner and warbles, which could be a minor setback. Not to mention the solar radiation issue once they get beyond the magnetosphere.

Probably easier to stick them on a rocket.

This is an excellent suggestion and will certainly put to rest the question of "why don't birds fly to the moon".
They will have no excuse now.

Re: PROPOSAL - Pressurized Pipe to the Moon (For Birds)
No answer from the crows, they just fly away when I get close enough to ask them about the pipe.

I tried yelling it to them from the deck but they fly away then also.

I'm gonna put a couple snares baited with bread down where they hang out and see if I can catch one.

I'll let you guys know if I get one in custody for questioning.
