As i know, one of my freign customer rent an apartment in Pudong district on the cost of RMB5000, the apartmetn is with two bedroon, two bath room and one big living room, the residence community is like a garden, and also with firniture and home appliances.

I think it is too big for a single people, so you surely can rent a satisfied apartment with RMB3000-4000.

Some foreigners here only eat imported food which is expensive, but if you eat chinese food, the food expenditure will be RMB2500, and i think it is a very loose estimate figure.
