FDA Approves First-Ever Dog Cancer Drug
CBS) Nine-year-old Stella is a beautiful mixed breed with a loving family.

But two months ago, her owners found a lump on her leg, reports CBS News medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook. It turned out to be a mast cell tumor, a type of cancer diagnosed in almost 200,000 dogs every year.

"It's the kind of cancer when treated appropriately or somewhat aggressively, you can have good successes, but it certainly can progress and kill an animal," said Dr. Karen Oberthaler, a veterinary oncologist.

Up until now, dogs like Stella with cancer have had limited choices. The only options for drug therapy have been drugs developed for humans - not animals.

But t here's new home with Palladia, the first cancer medication specifically developed for dogs, and promising for other pets, too. The drug maker Pfizer said it caused 37 percent of mast cell tumors to disappear and had a positive effect in almost 60 percent of dogs.

Re: FDA Approves First-Ever Dog Cancer Drug
Sounds like it could be dangerous. But, cancer is too. Here's some info I found on it:

While receiving Palladia, regular visits to the veterinarian will be required. Frequent examinations are necessary to track the effectiveness of Palladia in the individual dog and also to check for potential adverse effects from the medication.
Side Effects in Dogs Receiving Palladia for Mast Cell Tumors

Side effects may be seen with Palladia and dogs receiving the medication should be closely observed for indications of adverse reactions. Side effects can occur even at recommended dosages of the medication. The most common side effects seen with Palladia are:

* lack of appetite
* vomiting
* diarrhea
* black tar-colored feces
* blood present in vomit or feces
* bruising and/or bleeding

Dog owners noticing these types of symptoms after administering Palladia to their dogs should stop administering the medication and contact their veterinarian for further advice.
Precautions Necessary When Handling Palladia

Palladia is an anti-cancer medication and, as such, it needs to be handled very carefully. Palladia may be dangerous to unborn fetuses when handled by pregnant women. Women who are pregnant, nursing or planning to become pregnant need to be especially careful in handling the medication.

Children should not be allowed to handle Palladia and Palladia should be stored in a secure location, as should all prescription medications.

When handling Palladia, dog owners:

* should wash their hands thoroughly after handling the tablets.
* should not try to split or break tablets.
* should wear gloves when it is necessary to handle broken tablets.
* should administer Palladia tablets to their dog immediately after removing from the bottle.
* should not handle tablets spit out by the dog without gloves.
* should check to make certain the dog has ingested the Palladia tablet completely if hiding the tablet in food.

Cleaning Up After Dogs Receiving Palladia for Mast Cell Tumors

Dog owners should wear gloves when cleaning up urine, stool or vomit from Palladia-treated dogs. Urine, stool or vomit produced by the dog should be tightly sealed in plastic trash bags, along with any paper towels used to clean up messes. The plastic trash bag may be disposed of with regular household trash once tightly closed.

Any towels, blankets or other items soiled with urine, stool or vomit from the Palladia-treated dog should not be washed with regular laundry.

I think the pharmas are using pets for cancer research.

Cancers in the leg are CAUSED by vaccine injects by the same pharmas IMHO.

Re: FDA Approves First-Ever Dog Cancer Drug
Tell me you don't believe a word that our FDA (Federal Death Agency) says. They promote pharmaceuticals and chemicals.

I believe that the main problem with cancer in animals is from vaccines. I would check out the food/water sources too.

Most peoples water supply contains fluoride which is pure poison no matter how little they add to our water supply. Please do your research on the truth of fluoride.

Vaccines are no different. It does not matter if they omit mercury or not. (thermisol)

Vaccines are what cause Autism in our children. There is more than enough proof of that.

Ask yourself this: Why is it that Amish children don't get Autism? Because they don't get vaccines.

If animal lovers learned about the truth of vaccines, they would never ever have their pets vaccinated.

Please keep you pets/animals safe and refuse to have them vaccinated.

It all leads back to the pharmaceuticals and their bottom line and our Gov't damn well knows that.
