Impetigo on my face, don't want to see a physician, know someone who has a really old tube of Bactroban.

Anyone know if it's okay to use? Or will it shut my kidneys down?

The worst that can happen is that it wont work. If i was you i would get some new stuff if it doesnt have an effect after two days.

Soap and water will clear up impetigo just fine, just use lots of soap and repeat at least a couple times a day. It's not usually a serious infection, unless you have other conditions that cause problems. Medicine helps, but it's not strictly necessary in most cases.

most but not all exp dates are designed to sell more products as the true shelf life of most products is 2 to 10x longer than what is listed.... worst is it wont work but meds dont fail all at once useually they will lose some slight amount of potency...the caviet to this is heart meds where dose can be critical or antiseizure meds. try it and if it dont work after 2 days get new antibiotic... unless of course your fighting a critical infection under which case you should get the best stuff you can now... as always check with your doctor and follow all instructions as the fda would say so they dont come after my ass. im only writing this for accademic discussion and not medcial advice...hint hint. best to you. dr no.

Using expired bactroban stung more than it did when it was not expired. It somewhat worsened the irritation whereas before it had actually helped.

I've used Bactroban at least as old and it worked.

Give it a try.
