falldown (OP) User ID: 520470 United States 06/08/2009 05:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 5.7?? that's nothing Quoting: MBECCU 697457i can do more than that when i fart but how much is it on the RICHTER SCALE? that's the real measure? Actually, they use the "moment magnitude scale" these days (but still use Richter, because it's faster to approximate), but both scales are logarithmic, and the Nagasaki bomb was about equal to a 5.0 earthquake. So, granted, not jaw-dropping, but still a pretty impressive deal, especially if you're lucky enough to be standing right on top of it. ~ ~ "He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words." ~Elbert Hubbard |

meras User ID: 694176 United Kingdom 06/08/2009 06:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There was also a 5.3 in Mexico. On the same map we can see the Yucatan Peninsula and I would also like to put out there the theory that the Chicxulub crater could also be the caldera of a supervolcano as shocked quartz is also found in volcanic areas and iridium is also present deep within the Earth.
