And both of my tv's have faults (lounge tv requires a particular `percussive startup' technique and the remote on my bedroom tv has been broken for months- I use a broom handle to change channels and turn it off from my bed...

I know whats wrong with both of them, but quite frankly after a full day buried in electronics- I simply cant get the energy together to fix my own gear...

What do they say about the cobblers children going barefoot and the plumbers taps dripping??? More than a kernal of truth in that particular statement me thinks...

What you say is true enough, George, but let me say this as constructive advice, NOT as a criticism toward you.

It seems sometimes your questions are rooted is a deep, profound ignorance of basic science, a deep lack of knowledge of scientific method, and a bias that if you see it on the web, it must be true, or at least contain some truth.

Serious suggestion: Go to your nearest bookmonger or good library and bone up on basic, high school level science, and the tools scientists use to figure out how things work.

I suspect that will show you that a whole helluva lot of what you read on the net is pure, unadulterated bullshit and you should pay it no attention.

At the very least you should have some fun summer reading.

I would like your opinion regarding the coordinates we discussed yesterday. An individual claims that they used an IR capable camera and recorded an object at the coordinates RA: 6h 42m 8.44s, Dec: 41 40' 18.94" on 20 March 2010 from a location in southern Michigan. He later recorded an identical or similar object at 6h 41m 55.77s, 41 35'; 41 35' 19.45" on 9 April 2010. After consulting 'Your Sky' at [link to www.fourmilab.ch] (see graph above) it seems this object is found fairly close to the orbit of Mars. With your knowledge of camera capable telescopes which have the ability to record coordinates . . . is it possible:
1. The object may well be Mars because of the close proximity . . .
2. Some other star the individual is confusing the object with . . .
3. Individual has no clue of what he is doing . . .
4. He has possibly found something unique . . . .

1. Just what lack of basic scientific method did I not demonstrate by this question?

2. If these were valid observations and correct coordinates it was potentially an interesting find.

George, lesson 1: Not everything you see on the net is true.

Some that is true it is of such low quality so as to be useless.

I totally agree . . . I am becoming a much better researcher with every effort on the web. I have only been doing this for about a year. I was too busy with my career and family issues before now. Finding source documents and research is not always easy, but it is becoming easy with practice. So much on the web is just the repeating of something someone else said without any sources identified. When you find the original source you often find a misrepresentation or misquote, etc.

Nice Lens' Flare . . . at 1.49 - 1.51 Minutes

Lens flare is created when non-image forming light enters the lens and subsequently hits the camera's film or digital sensor.  This often appears as a characteristic polygonal shape, with sides which depend on the shape of the lens diaphragm.  It can lower the overall contrast of a photograph significantly and is often an undesired artifact, however some types of flare may actually enhance the artistic meaning of a photo.  Understanding lens flare can help you use it--or avoid it--in a way which best suits how you wish to portray the final image.

Here is another good example of Lens' Flare . . . if you play these frame by frame you will see on both days the flare appears in the same identical way. It is not there one frame and then the next frame it appears. At 14 and again at 27 seconds.
