She actually believes she is in contact with aliens. Whether that's true or if she's simply delusional is in debate. She very well could be in contact with "aliens." However, they are either giving her intentional misinformation or she isn't understanding what is being said to her...although, if that were the case, you would think these "aliens" would be aware of that and correct the situation - which they have not done. If she is mentally ill, I don't know if anyone should have pity for her or not. On one hand, if you do...you may be attacked by some believers for having any pity for someone who is only trying to help mankind. If you don't pity her...then you may be attacked by some believers for being "Service To Self." It's kind of a no win situation there. I, for one, wish she would get some treatment if she is ill...but she needs to want that help. Right now, she doesn't want it because she truly thinks she's right...and will probably go on doing so no matter how many times "Planet X" doesn't show up.
