Crews are repairing a water main break that has interrupted service in Vinton and eastern Roanoke County, authorities said. Service is expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m.
The water main break was reported at the entrance of Montgomery Village, which is at the intersection of Hardy Road and Finney Drive, about a mile west of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The town of Vinton supplies water to this area, and crews arrived before 6 p.m., the town's dispatch office said.
Separately, in Roanoke, water service was expected to be restored to businesses and a church on Hollins Road after a water main broke early this morning, said Sarah Baumgardner, a spokeswoman for the Western Virginia Water Authority.
The 12-inch cast iron pipe was replaced, and crews were getting ready to fill in the hole and turn water back on this morning, Baumgardner said. The break happened near the intersection of Georgia Avenue Northeast. Hollins Road was closed between Orange and Georgia avenues.
