NORTH FREEDOM — About 1,500 motorcycle riders found a friendly reception in North Freedom Saturday afternoon as they rolled through the Sauk County landscape for the 23rd Muscular Dystrophy Association Freedom Ride.

Resident Kurt Haberman made a large sign with black and orange markers with the words "Go MDA Riders."

Haberman held his sign aloft and displayed it enthusiastically.

Haberman said the ride's visit to the village had been a real "rush" for him. He enjoyed supporting an event aimed at doing good for people afflicted with a very serious disease.

"I had some much fun making that sign," he said. I know it would be a hit, it was a hit and it was a thrill."

That's really sad, all that enthusiasm for a cardboard sign.
