The ecliptic goes from the Tropic o' Cap to that o' Can BECAUSE we are tilted and are on one side of the Sun or the other.

At each point the Sun rises a bit higher or lower, AND in a new constellation. This is due to TILT and POSITION in space relative to the orbit around the Sun.
