Then, in the summer of 2007, he said he was so convinced that "Planet X" would show up by September of that year that he would commit suicide if it didn't. Well, there's still no sign of this "rogue planet" but he claims it's here and that's why he didn't commit suicide...which we were trying to talk him out of from the very beginning anyway. The fool even went on to claim that he filed a "police report" with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police telling them that if anything should happen to him he should investigate the "debunkers" that post on this forum. What an idiot. First of all, no police agency is going to take a report when no crime has been committed. Second, even if they did take him seriously, once they started to investigate, they'd find that the only threat of harm came from himself. They would see that every "debunker" here told him that killing himself because "Planet X" didn't show up is/was a bit drastic. All he had to do is simply admit he was wrong. We moved here for my wife's job as a SQL Database Administrator. Originally, the plan was for me to become a dispatcher for the sheriff's office here since that's what I was doing when we lived in Tampa. But, the economy being what it is, the agencies here aren't hiring very often. I'd also been feeling kind of burned out on it...working weekends and holidays all the time. So I also decided to go to school again. I already have an AA in Electronics Technology but I haven't used it for a very long time so I felt I needed to do something different but, at the same time, might kind of build upon it. I'm now about four months away from completing my AA in Network Systems Admin (minor) with a major in Network Communications Management (BSc). But, because I don't yet have the BSc, I haven't had much luck finding a real job. I decided not to pursue a job as a dispatcher since I'm almost done with the AA because I felt it would be a waste of time (both mine and theirs) since I would leave as soon as I found something in IT. I'm currently working for Hewlett Packard as a contractor. I'd rather be a permanent employee but, unfortunately, about 80% of the people that work at this facility are contractors. I set up SAN (Storage Area Network) arrays...install servers (Command View, Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Red Hat, HP UX (HP's version of UNIX), set up network switches with VLANs and cable it all together. Anyway, I had an Icom 746 that I sold when we moved here. I have a Yaesu FT-100D that I'm going to put in my truck. I currently have an Icom IC-2820 out there now with the D-Star module and I have an Icom IC-92AD. Once we get in to a house, I want to get a Flex 5000 SDR. A voice of reason in a world of woo-woos. |

(of course I can only operate when I can run the coax out the laundry door and couple it up to that bare spot I accidently left on the end nearest me (hey the knife slipped when I was cutting it OK??) and that steel pole burried in the ground about 3 ft deep- will it woul be an acceptable earth stake for someone requiring such a thing....) whistles innocently antenna.. what antenna??? |

The Sun rises (or doesn't, at some latitudes and times of year) with the constellation it's in front of. This is due to tilt. b) But if we were stopped, the Sun would be in front of one constellation the whole time. This means tilting the Earth WOULD raise and lower all constellations (and some would not show in winter at certain latitudes), but whatever constellation was BEHIND THE SUN IN THE STOPPAGE VIEW, would always be eclipsed by the Sun, though it, with the Sun, would rise up in its turn as the tilt allowed. IF YOU CHANGE THE TILT YOU GET A DIFFERENT ECLIPTIC. The ecliptic is the viewpoint we have on the constellations by the Sun. The constellations it passes behind are the same but the positions we would see it at would be different. -- The Sun's pass over significant stars in constellations of seasons -- are only due to tilt. In winter or summer we see less of or more of those stars and the Sun with them. |
