Thats an interesting question, but in principle you have got the answer during all the past years.

and, still regarding to "win you over" - once and for all you have to understand that nobody is at first hand trying to win you over - that is just uneccesarry and useless, since you are lost for the human community anyway.

***I*** am NOT claiming it - just sharing with you what three separate, independant and unrelated psychics told me. I've never dwelled on these "surprising" (more to me than anyone) claims that OTHERS reported to me out of the blue. I'll tell you this much though, I possess his absolute fearlessness in the sense that nothing "frightens" me. It's always driven my friends crazy that they could walk up behind me - gooch me - or say boo, and rather than flinch, I slowly turn and look at them like their an idiot. That said, outside of a true battlefield, fearlessness isn't worth much. Without other social skills, it isn't much of an advantage in this "normal" world of ours. Ney was politically out-matched by MUCH more cunning and depraved people. One of the biggest "lessons" he would have come away with, was to trust people even LESS than he had in that life - and he was pretty wary then. Napoleon was a TRUE genius, with photographic memory and political acumen that matched his intellectual brilliance. Ney was valuable for his battlefield heroics and his ability to inspire men with his intrepid example. But in small circles and social settings, he was reserved, even shy.

This time - there's no army, no organization, and possibly NO RULES. If Ney were alive today, he would almost certainly avoid the military and formal politics. Knowing from personal experience (on an emotional level) how rigged the game is, it's likely he'd try to live a low-key life and not draw a lot of attention to himself. He'd know there was TONS of potential greatness bottled up inside him, but wouldn't necessarily know how best to express it or apply it in today's modern world.

He'd be an ironic man - out of his element in a peaceful, law abiding and predictable world. He'd be at his BEST when everything around him was coming apart at the seams and everyone else was at their WORST.

He'd come back for the chaos soon to visit us all - for that would be his element, and where his skills and strengths can do the most good.

let's see...Ney, the man who abandoned Napoleon & swore fealty to the Bourbons, went to arrest the little corporal only to once more change sides. The man who sent more Frenchmen to their deaths than Wellesley & Blucher combined. The man who, even though his troops were equipped with hammers & nails, "forgets" to give them the order to spike the allied guns at Waterloo, all while he beats the barrel of a cannon in frustration. (He also was tardy & failed to capture Quatre Bras earlier, a move that put Napoleon on the wrong foot for Waterloo) And when his emperor needs him the most, almost single handedly destroys the army by throwing it into an untenable position...so if being a complete screw-up incapable of determining when it is time to fall back & re-group, forgets important details, disobeys orders, squanders resources, sends men pointlessly to their deaths & was a turncoat (twice) is something you are proud to be, well, you are the one who laid the claim...

There are two sides to the "who lost Waterloo" battle, and there are some scholars (indeed in the EXTREME minority) who exonerate Ney and even go so far as to say that of anyone on the field that day, he knew more of what was happening than anyone - and that if Napoleon had sent the reserve troops to support Ney when Ney requested it instead of whigging out when he discovered his beloved imperial guard had been "spent" like ordinary troops always are, the outcome might have been DRAMATICALLY different.

The kind of fearlessness that Ney personally possessed? You know what that is mostly comprised of??

You really don't give a shit if you live or die - and so you REALLY don't give a shit about using a bunch of pretty men on pretty horses who look good in parades when everything is on the line. Ney saw nothing "special" about that cavalry - they were more "resources", nothing more, nothing less. Napoleon obviously saw things differently, and it may be that his vanity clouded his judgment.

It doesn't - and might even offer an explanation for why the infrastructure as a whole (bridges, pipelines, etc.) is not built to last a thousand years. The top-tier bankers and industrialists KNOW it's going to all be garbage anyway - so why not make it cheap?

Ney had a LOT of flaws, and no one knew that more than Ney. Napoleon had a photographic memory - Ney did not. I think Ney would have been the first to admit that he had risen to his level of "incompetance". But that's simply because - especially when it comes to battlefield leadership - GOOD HELP IS HARD TO FIND. Look what a fuck-up U.S. Grant was - yet he knew how to FIGHT. That quality is not easy to find, and Ney had it IN SPADES.

It's what we get for engaging with him. He gets his jollies provoking us with his stupidity and goading us into giving the attention he craves. If we ignore him he pouts and ends up dusting off one of his other socks, because face it. This is the only way he can drag himself out of his boring mundane life and pretend to be special.

It doesn't bother him that we all think he is a moron. He doesn't care about what kind of attention we give him, as long as we pay attention to him.

I am a man of my word. When the "tipping point" fails to materialize, I will not tease him if he does what he promised - genuinely apologize to all of us here. But judging from the past couple of days worth of posts, he is trying to distract the focus away from his upcoming fail and is preemptively trying to come up with spin. We have just a few days left before Max will either show that he does have a little integrity, or continue to be the ass we all know him to be.

Personally, I am tired of his charade and I wish he would just go to the ning where he will find a handful of people as deluded as he is and will make him feel special and important. But then again, we all know that he never really supported Nancy. He just used her to further his attention whoring needs.

How do I know it's a miracle mile? I don't live in Detroit. Do you know as absolute fact that section had never been worked on or patched? Yes, perhaps back in the day they used a different mix of concrete that stood up better. But you can't say there's some conspiracy to it when you don't have all the facts.

Well, that about sums you up right there - "ordinary can be pretty boring". How can you consider anything in life "boring"? This great miracle of existence is endlessly fascinating but you can't stand the thought of not being somehow distinct from "boring", ordinary people. Boring is an attitude you develop from desiring a distraction from life and existence itself. Ordinary is somehow just not good enough for you. And why on earth would you "brag" about who you've been? You're all about ego which means you haven't really learned anything of any spiritual value. Do you think a true master would involve himself in these petty arguments?

I know it as fact - drove it myself. The concrete surface was weathered from age, but not broken. We've all seen fifty year old sidewalk in areas where it looks weathered, but often whole sections remain intact. Often these sections settle like gravestones over time and the sidewalk becomes uneven, but the concrete sections maintain their integrity. That mile looked like weathered sidewalk, but much wider and longer - with the difference that none of it "settled".

And what? they "lost" the recipe? Highly doubtful. What's more likely is they started using cheaper materials and also figured out that if they made it "too" good, they wouldn't be back in ten years to rip it all up and pour it all over again. I know that as well, lived there long enough to see the VERY SAME construction company "back" pouring new concrete to replace the junk they poured ten years earlier.

Where's the incentive NOT to cut corners and screw the taxpayer?

And I find it HIGHLY ironic that nowadays we have TRUE technological MARVELS that can now literally "eat" the road surface and conveyor it into waiting trucks in a faction of the time it took to rip it up with common excavators. So now they can redo these roads with a paltry amount of labor (increasingly non-union), but get the same huge contracts and the owners pocket exponentially bigger portions of the payout.

But somehow we can't "find" that old recipe to make the road last.
