As i remember, regarding Australia- the western side (more than half if im not mistaken) will be under water whereas the eastern side will raise. Even all the way to New Zealand - raise in elevation - mountain building.
Its just that it seems currently that the eastern side being flooded like never ever before in Australian history , seems contradicting.The hilarious answers: Justin, just imagine the eastern side of Australia going up, would the water coming down the rivers being able to empty out to the oceans.
No, the water would stay there forever, thats what happened at the moment.And:The eastern side of the Indo Australian Plate is to the east of New Zealand and does not cross NZ, thus the islands rise as a whole. With this rising occuring to the east of Australia, the water rushes west from that point towards the coast and UP the river, which the storms the flooding is being blamed on could never cause. They apparently think the whole world, including the sea level, is rising east of Australia and pouring to the west!
